Picture of the Week Year two 03/08/09 - 03/22/09
Welcome to POTW #53

The first week of POTW, year two was great. Nice to see a bunch of new participants showing off their stuff. It's always interesting to see what styles everyone brings to the thread. So lets build on that and post lots of stuff here from last week and the coming week.

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 03/08/09 - Sunday 03/22/09
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

Thanks Georg! I really like the snow landscapes you've been showing.
Rense, Thanks, really nice flower close-ups with nice lighting.
Gary, Thanks, those are some great sunset shots you got. The on-and-off rain produced some nice looking clouds.
Dave, thanks a lot for the comments.

ahhh, wales.... monochrome

Here some from the weekend. As was implied earlier, the thaw set in. I'm a good 3-4 weeks worth of winter further north than Helsinki (it's only 100km / 60 miles, but it makes a real difference)... Heavily curve 'corrected' in UFRaw.

Comments welcome - and yes, I've seen the dust, I'll have to clean.

I have a small flower garden in my back yard. It's a triangle about 3 feet on a side and I do my best to keep it colorful. My wife says my little garden has the most photographed flowers in town. Maybe she's right. I spent a good part of Sunday and a little time today working on developing better techniques to shoot flowers. Here a few shots of those flowers.
First 2 shots K20 + F 35-70mm, last shot K20 + Vivitar 105mm macro

Well the weather has been uncoperative here and with a recent couple of weeks off I am now just catching up on all I left behind. Not much shooting to date but I forced myself to go out for a little walk last night.

Still plenty of snow here

lots of great images already posted this week! don't have time to comment
on each one as I prefer, but it's always great to see what people are
shooting.

a few that really caught my eye, mostly for personal reasons:

Toshi, the flowers give me hope that things will bloom here soon.

PinarelloOnly, is that a bottle of Lagavullin? I am a fan of single malts,
perhaps I should do a still life of my collection

Frank, I take most of my flower shots in my yard, too! there are shoots
coming up so not long now...

this past weekend was filled with family oriented activities, here's a few samples: (click to see them bigger)

Saturday morning at Overlook Farm (Heifer International)
my son holding a baby goat:

I think they put the wheel here for photographers

later that day, my other son bowling as only a 6 year old can:

there was a birthday party, too, but I'm not done with those pictures, yet

Inside looking inside

Yep, I'm a Tubes fan... :-)

Weather is loosening up here in MTL finally, but it's all filthy and grey and icky right now- but I must go shoot during golden hours a bit this week!

These are from inside, since I've been at the desk grindstone like crazy- all with the fantastic K30mm f/2.8. at 2.8 or 4, depending, mostly 2.8 for maximum DOF.

Second two are some fun shots I took when picking up some chinese takeout last night- the owners love photography! I wanted to get the hot food home, but took some shots to appease their enthusiasm: I'll print some up (not shown here) and take them back for maybe a free noodle dish!

Photography for food!

Dave, it looks like the snow is starting to melt. That must mean it's almost spring where you are. Hope you get some warm weather soon.

timbo13, I sure like your son's bowling technique. He really keeps his eye on the ball.

virgilr, that K30 gives nice colors and great DOF. Nice shots.
