Stratman, Nice images and even though this is the POTW I thought I'd comment on the B&W version. I like it that way but would suggest a different conversion. Hope you don't mind this posted here.

I'm not sure what process you used to make the adjustment but here's a tried and true method I use. In yours the dark areas (tough exposure Btw) are too dark and there are a number of hot spots that take away from the image IMO.
So I used the settings below in CS2 with the channel mixer. Then 5% shadow recovery and 10% highlight. Simple and easy way to make the adjustments. I find being able to control each colour channel makes a very big difference in controlling each colour's balance in the shot.

Planedriver, love your boat images, love the composition in the yellow boat shot.
Dave, good catch with that dog yawning!
Stratman, nicer people shots! She is cute!
Sheela, those are so beautiful flower images!
Gary, I love the sunsets!
Borno, impressive sign, to say the least!
Adrian, great bird flight image! What's in the wings?

Nice to see so many entries so early ! Spring must have srpung in most places (snow storm here today not even gonna take pictures too depressing!).

Georg - thanks for the comments. I really like those shots. The first two are great.

Stratman - she seems to be you favorite subject such a cute little girl. I like th color version better however I like Peter's BW conversion as well. Nice tips. Good candid portrait of Grandpa.

sheela - thanks for the comments. Nice isolation on #1, Very good DOF on #2. I am a tree fan and I like #3 the best. Well done.

Vinceloc - the bigger verison look better for sure, well done.

Gary - my dog usually hides when I have the camera and that is his corner. Once I trapped him, he just gave up. Thanks for comments. I like #1 nice BW conversion. The next two show the golden hour well in the sky. The last is my favorite as well. Wonderfull colors of the sun against the clouds.

Tom - it's like getting a long lost friend back eh! Nice herson shot. The focus looks good indeed. I liek the last shot. The no swimming sing is interesting. I don't think I have seen one in memory of someone before.

Peter - nice tips - good conversion.

AdrianM - ahh the gulls they are eveywhere even here in the Prairies . Nice capture of he BIF and creamy bokeh.

Let's keep them comming.

ok I lied I will post some of todays snow ....

So here are some shots from minutes ago. Saturday and Sunday I was walking outside without a coat and shorts. To say I am tired of snow is like a Survivor contestent saying they have had enough rice

Almost all the snow was gone yeterday - was thinking about raking the lawn actually - these plans have been deffered.

Took the snow tires off the car yesterday

To compare an earlier shot in the thread of my last of snow by the basekball hoop.

Dave, thanks for hosting this POTW! It's a great place to share everyweeks pics!!
I like your paprika image, it's so full of colour. Quite different from your Alberta spring photos, which look more and more like winter

Andras (or is it András?) - those boats of you are marvelous. It appears you don't have wind at al in Hungary (but I remember quite different things....!!).
Gary - nice shots. It's great to see this animal has the same colour as his habitat...
Vincent - this is a great shot, with nice colours and composition. The one but last one (is this English????) is great, with the red carpet on the stairs, it has great light. Great capture!
Alan - beautifull portrait!
Peter - I like the composition and colour in your staircase.
Georg - cacti in Helsinki..... I like the last one, and I think it was a good idea not to depict the whole of the plant. Nicely done!
Stratman - great moment this girl with the bubbles! It's nice to have colour in the bubbles, and I think I prefer the colour one therefore.
Sheela - great flowers, the first one is my favorite.
Gary - the last sunset is great!
Borno - I like the bird(s), because of the DOF!
Adrian - wow, nice shot!

Hmmm, strange things happening. I sumitted some photos here, and I saw them on my screen. Now, after half an hour they are gone. Who stole my photos?????

I will try it again. Did some fieldwork today with my collegues and I made some photos (of course!).

LOL, it was probably a hiccup at your hosting site Rense. Let me know when you go to bed and I'll take over guard duty.

Hi Rense! Thanks for your comments BTW, love the perspective of your last photo. You must have been lying on your stomach for that one

Thanks Gary! That's one of the best compliments I've gotten so far. Really appreciated

No problem Peter, I am a rank amateur when it comes to converting B&W. Every bit of info is much appreciated.
