Picture of the Week - 26-April-2009 to 10-May-2009 #60

Dave asked me to host the new POTW, so here we are, after two most successful weeks ever, let's keep the pace!

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 04/26/09 - Sunday 05/10/09 Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

Jim - Nice series looks like you have a little prodigy gardener there - the flowers look good in BW and nice freeze on the water.

Pat - yep the two week criteria is in the title other than that there are no rules. It's a great place to show what you have been up to the last couple of weeks and indeed there are some amazing shots.

RickL - awsome shot of the humming bird - great isolation.

causey - I like the landscape shots. I particularly like #1 of the steps. Well done.

Bruce - tasty indeed

A classic slap stick

Some classics never go out of style. Here is one we have on our ball team. If your birthday happens to fall on game night (or within the week of the game) watch out ! This young lad it is his first full season with us so he had no idea and was caught big time ! Whipped cream up the nose , in the ears, and all over that huge afro hair of his ! He was a good sport about it and we bought him a few beers after .

The unsuspecting ....

Happy Birtday to me ... and the sneak attack inititates ...

Tagged !!

Let's rub it in a little more ....

Umm not too bad tasty in fact (Whipped cream and chocolate sause...)

Bruce and Dave, thank you for your comments. Cape Cod has some very nice spots, indeed. Unfortunately, the light was very harsh when I got there (around 2pm).

For Fun from a min-carnival in the mall parking lot

Shot these on Sunday with my trusty ol' knockabout Tammy 28-200. Odd little carnival that passes through every spring and sets up in the parking lot of the local shopping center here in Lachine, Québec.

I know this one should have the power lines cloned out, but these are just for fun!

The white balloons were actually blue in this shot, but I desaturated blues in LR- like the "pops" of color against the black/white.

Bruce - Yes I see them both now, great light mist!

Dave - Yes, indeed, good food is essential to the body! Taste is equally essential to the soul

Venturi - I love the middle image, nice contrast!

Rick - Superb hummer shot!

Stefan - Looks beautiful place to shoot, love the well saturated colours in your shots!

Dave - Super funny series, I just love to see the pleasure the girls a having from their action!

Virgil - Nice shots, you have chosen good angles, one could think this was a much larger amusement park!

New DA35mm Macro lens

I picked this lens up from the Marketplace, received only 2 days ago,, so here are my first shots with it. I have to say this lens is a superb lens, particularly for Macro shots. Its up there with Viv ser1 105m. This is AF however so gives me best of both worlds.

#3. This one was taken on a very wet rainy day, which seemed to accentuate the Autumn colours.

I'll have to agree, those are nice shots. I'm not a big black & white fan, but those suit it perfectly. I like #2 the best.

The rain let up for a few hours today, 7 days of rain is too much
Some linesman destroyed the osprey nest I found and they were ready to lay eggs, so they are furiously trying to rebuild. They really should have put a platform up as they will keep trying, kind of sad really.

A goose family(though some look suspiciously larger than the others)

Beautiful pictures everywhere again!

Rense, those are wonderful b/w of the veterans.

Finally the rain stopped for today (and hopefully a bit longer ). Found a friendly California quail.

I'm testing out a Sigma 150-500 1:5-6.3 APO HSM. Same kind of size as the Bigma..

These were handheld , propped against the side of the truck, at 370 and 430 mm, ASA 400, 1/250, F8, SR on. Both cropped to about 1.5x original height.

I like it!

Wow! Those are beautiful! I have wondered about the Sigma 150-500 and from your pictures, it appears to be a great tool. You have certainly put it to good work!
