Picture of the Week - 04-May-2009 to 117-May-2009 #61

Since Jezza223 is in the great down under and didn't receive notification to host, Gawan asked me to pick up the POTW for this period. I'm honored and happy to be part of the fun of the POTW threads!

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 04/26/09 - Sunday 05/10/09 Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

I have to say, this week has been chalk full of great images. Gratz all! So, we were cooking this weekend and caught a couple good ones:

I enjoy the process of cooking as much as the final product...

Apple & pepper jelly, anyone?

A few from today- was pouring rain this afternoon, and it being a long weekend up here in Canada wanted to go do some shooting, but no cooperation! So, a bit of indoor shooting- these were some treasures my wife has found at garage sales, etc, recently and she wanted some shots to send to her friend via email. After the "product" shots, I got down to having some fun with the Tammy 90mm adaptall. Used my ghetto softbox, too- was alot of fun!

Georg - what a mouthfull ! Thanks for comments hoep your wife can find one of those frames Great colors on the spring flowers well done.

Andras - daisys are my wifes favorites - nice shots.

richit - not sure what that is but is a nice looking flower.

Mike - nice zoo shots. Love the tiger and I agree on the last shot what kind of bird is that ?

MrApollonax - now that is a lot of flowers well done. I wen to the Farmers Market as well yesterday but not get so close to the flowers nice series. I like the last two the best.

RickL - Nice capture - I hear ya sometimes these critters just do not coperate at all but you got him well done.

jezza323 - great bw and isolation on the guitar. Think the last one os my favorite.

Scott - thanks for the comments - indeed it is. Great fastball shots. What is the picture wearing in #1 ? Did she break her nose or something ? Perfect timing on #4 what kind of shutter speed were you sing to freeze the ball like that ? Well done.

AOski - The pepper looks delicious as does the jelly I enoy cooking as well.

Virgilr - ahh summer and Garage Sales , some bargains can be found for sure. Nice product shots.

A quick search shows me this is the most popular POTW thread ever. It's great to see some new members join as well as what all the regular contributors are shooting. Excellent week all and the best part is a new one is soon to start.

daacon that is a protective mask worn usually by thirdbase, pitcher, and firstbase. It protects from those line drives hitting the girls in the face, since they are so close to the batter.
As far as the shutter speed goes that shot was 1/2000 f5.6 and a lucky finger.

Thanks for the info Scott, I played baseball and fastball for years and have never seen one of those. I am now old enough where I play mixed / Men's Slo-Pitch and enjoy the beers after as much as the game itself . It's a good idea as I have seen more of my fare share of ptictures taking one off the face. Suprised on 1st and 3rd also wearing it though ...

I was taking some shots of a batters hitting the ball and 1/2000 was not fast enough to freeze the ball comming off the bat - then again on a good hit the ball is leaving the bat faster than it came in (unless we are taking profesional baseball pictures here with a 90mph fastball). I hear ya on the lucky finger haha.

According to the Buffalo Zoo website it is a Cinereous/Eurasian Black Vulture. One of my co-workers was surprised it was a vulture because it wasn't like the typical ones you associate with from Africa with the long bald neck. But it's still a very large bird.

3 pages since my last visit - full of great photos! I enjoy in walk through them.

the weekend here was warm and very very sunny - perfect for macro! so I reversed smc-M 50/2 on sears 135/2.8 on my k100d and took some photos. I had some problems with focusing but I think results are pretty good.

and one just with sears 135 (it was on macro mode, cause I wanted dreamy effect)
