Project 52, Week 49 - Cityscape

Rules:

1. Anyone and everyone who is interested is eligible
2. Make an attempt to effectively capture the theme of the week
3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation) but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. let's try to keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves
5. There is one theme labeled black and white, but feel free to post black and white, sepia, etc. for any of the other themes
6. Have fun, provide constructive and friendly criticism, and fire away
7. You may post pictures taken before the current active week; however, only photos captured during the active week will be judged.

This week's theme - Cityscape - will run from today until Sunday, May 24th.

I haven't done much landscape (cityscape) photography but I can assume that night shots always trump days shots.

I was having a discussion with a friend and we came to the conclusion that a day shot could only beat a night shot if the city was on fire. We then realised that even if you got the best burning city day shot, someone would come along and take the shot at night and you'd still lose.

So I guess I'll get the tripod out and wait for a clear night to head into the city....

Night shots can be tougher though.

I don't mind night shooting. Tethered locking remote, watch, somewhere to sit and a drink of some description.

It's gentleman's photography.

Clearly no winner, but one of the rare cityscapes I have, made the day before yesterday...

"The Hague, seen from the dunes"

On a cold and windy winter's night, the city of Sydney decides to make its own rainbow.

Note no Harbour Bridge - I merely had to turn 90 degrees for a pano that included it but I had some self control.

That's impressive Nico.

It never occured to me how difficult Project 52 would be for film users. I'm a 21st century digital boy and think nothing of popping off a shot and uploading it within a few minutes but you film guys have a few more steps.
