Picture of the Week - 10-May-2009 to 24-May-2009 #62

Well coming off a record POTW thread it's time to let that go and start anew. You all don't have to wait you know. It's simple to start a new one and really once the tread is started that literally ends the mandatory obligation. Of course you can comment and post and are encouraged to, but we all know sometimes you get busy. Anyway here we go....

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 10/05/09 - Sunday 24/05/09 Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

As usual here are couple to start us off ...

Spring days are here but there are still occasional days where the temperature drops to freezing and some snow falls instead of rain. It has been a really late spring here with most of the trees still leafless. I did notice a few dandelions on some of the grass yesterday so perhaps we are getting ready for an extended warm period. Although the long range forecast looks dismal this week.

Regardless at the local farmers market, the bedding and perennial plants were out, it was a relatively warm day and the crowd was thick, everyone waiting to plant their flowers in the yard.

virgilr -thanks for the comments. Looks like a peacefull cat for sure.

Georg - thanks for the comments - yep nice to see him in pants that don't hang half way down his ass Nice gull shots that second one he must of saw something he wanted or was hungover

eccs19 - indeed cool #1 and yes indeed I have the utmost respect for wedding photographers - not only bad lighting all that mayhem and stress.

xjjohnno - thanks for the info. Had no idea. We have our fair share of squaking birds here as well - just not so colorful.

RickL - thanks for the comments. SR is great and I have a few shots with the bigma fully extended hand held - well done.

Andras - cute kid and what a boatload of toys. Nice to see you back on the boats - very colorful indeed.

Tom - great heron shots and nice captures. #1 sure looks a pose to me and #2 is commical.

Scott - good action shots. That last one love the expression on his face.

It's raining again in Vancouver, but the green and reds perform wonderfully under grey skies.

It just started raining here in Vancouver to the south as well after three beautiful warm sunny days. Same storm front just a few hours later.

I really like the red/green leaves. Sometimes the light on a drizzly day is just right.

Tom-the "goofy landing" is a super shot-look at his head I wonder who is he shouting at?
Scott-your collection of sport action photographs has a character. Different games and persons still similar style. I like them.
Dave-that bacon and egg roll looks very tempting.(definitely tastes better than Advil:-)) Nice colors again. Is that the DA35 macro?
Jeff-I like the first one very much-dark red goes nicely with the wet green.

This is the place where most of my boat-pictures were taken:

and some other from this morning:

eccs19... what is this ultimate hummer shot of which you speak. I'm not sure what that photo is.
RickL... that's a crazy shot of the workers on the tower.
legacyb4... love the red and green leaves together. Nicely framed shot.

My fav from the last week...

Last week I posted a couple of humming bird shots, and I've been trying to get a good shot of one of them. (Not an easy task I must say) The shot I posted, was a funny shot I got. You can see the hummer flying on the other side of the feeder, through the glass.

A couple of shots with an architectural theme.
I liked the 1st particularly for its shadows, but was not as keen on the Windows shot, with its converging lines.
orange cast is due to early morning sun.
