Welcome to Picture of the Week 06/01/09 - 06/14/09 #65

Another great POTW last week. Lots of participation and some excellent images. Nice to see everyone's stuff and so many of you willing to share. Doesn't matter if it's a snap shot of the kids or a masterpiece that will make you famous. We wanna see what's been in your viewfinder.

You can see last weeks POTW here.

All of the past POTW's are now linked below under the name of the host. So it's easy to go back and view some past weeks.
[/B]
Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 05/24/09 to Sunday 06/07/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

So to get things started. All I have so far is some shots from yesterday at my step son's 5Km road race. His teacher is big on getting the kids active and had a weekly exercise program (games like Basketball and Rugby) each week and finished off with this road race.

So a few from the run:
First my step son:

Next all the sneakers at the start

Finally a Hog parked to the side of the road.

Everything was shot with the FA*300mm and I was really happy with how it tracked and focused on the K10D. Short FL shots were done with the Sigma 105mm macro (the Harley) One fine and sharp lens.

The best shots (there were over 200) have been submitted to the local paper and we'll see if they publish the shots and article.

I strolled around the yard with the Sigma 105mm macro on the K20D and came up with these.

Kevin and dadipentak (funny name)--superb pictures! But what am I saying? Most, if not all, photos in this thread are beautiful. A joy to see them! Thank you, everybody.

And some more from the same trip. No plants, no details, landscapes. And my apologies for the overload, but I couldn't choose

These are more funny than good... Yesterday from the boatclub, we watched this group of men trying to get their boat on the trailer. I think they were either very inexperienced, or perhaps intoxicated! It took them well over 30 minutes to get it loaded. I liked the expression of the guy sitting in the back of the boat... It was like, "I'm with a bunch of idiots!".... and the guy in the water... not sure what he was thinking. The guy in the water at the front of the boat came to their aid, since he was waiting to load his boat as well, and couldn't until these guys finished.

Dang, this boat is heavy... and the water is cold!!!

Hey Dave... here's one to answer your kettle korn pic! I took this one over the weekend when our town holds it's annual "Chili Cookoff". The winners go to the World Championships later in the year....

Well I got some time this am - excellent work all

Niklas - sorry I am not sure why the extra exif is stored. Maybe post that question in the post processing section.

virgilr - cool red poppy - umm isn't that where opium come from

Andras - indeed it looks like a beautiful evening and nice captures. I don't generally like subjects centered in the shots but I think in this case #2 works.

mchud - #1 and #3 are great shots. #2 is blown out too much for my liking.

Bruce - staying dry ? The white rose is well exposed

Kevin - great candid street shots #2 is very interesting. And like the expression goes , you can't go wrong with Kid shots.

eccs19 - nice series but I love the simplicity of #1 - that should be printed !

Oldschool - what is that a self portrait Great colors on the flamingo's and I don't know what kind of birds those are - but they look good.

Georg (the other) - nice isolation in a crowded area. And the second on is priceless !! No nose pickers allowed haha. Nice eye spotting that one.

scatron - Love air shows - great shot of the girls in the cockpit. Love the last 2.

MacGirl - very nice series of the butterflys. That last one is outstanding. I also like the 3 in tree one.

Kevin - a nice documentry of your small town. Looks pretty laid back there. Thanks for sharing.

dadipentak - love the sigma 105 nice use of it. I like the first and last the best.

dayah - from a speeding train I would agree not bad at all.

Rense - nice wild floral shots. Like the second one the best. A good landscaper series as well. Like the gull in flight and the last one looks so deserted , well done.

Rick - that is funny ! Remids me of when I tried to back in a 35ft 5th wheel into a camping site ! And nice kettle corn that stuff is addictive. They are at all the farmers markets in the area and it's like a license to print money, Most times they can't pop it fast enough for the crowds.

A bee hard at work collecting from some clover flowers. A little soft, but I like it anyway.

As always, some great photos in this thread! I sure do enjoy seeing them, and what people are doing for fun!

That said, here are a couple more from the weekend's Chili Cookoff.

A couple of Clarksville locals taking part in the events!

Great hat and smile! Inside the boatclub, where the judging took place. And, what good is a chili cookoff without beverages?
