Welcome to Picture of the Week 06/28/09 - 07/12/09 #69
Posted By: georgweb, 07-05-2009, 02:17 PM

Hi everybody,
I'd like to start the next round of your Picture of the Week, so here it is. Please feel free to post anything you like from last week or this week.

Thank you Bruce/Bramela for hosting last weeks POTW.

Please keep them coming this week just like before:
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 06/28/09 to Sunday 07/12/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Looking forward to your photos,
Georg (the other)

Some more soccer highlights.

My son eye on ball about to strike goal number one

Some ball handling

Goal number two

Almost goal number four, three in one game though

Opponents goal tender and one shot just to high, but a great try to deny

daacon liked last weeks softball shots. That last one is as close as you can get to ball bat contact.

jezza323 - noce BW conversion does not look too noisy at all.

Scott - thanks for the comments on the last week softball - it sure is hit and miss I should have tried burst mode. Nice action shots on the soccer - your boy looks intense.

Jeff - nice patriotic Canada day shots. Love the flag and fireworks.

A very fruitful Sunday in the company of the FA 35/2 and two Russians!

I was just walking around downtown Portland and afterward at a local public garden. Not bad for casual shooting with the trusty FA 35/2 and some Russian glass!

(Many thanks to ISO50 for the short-term loan of the Helios 44M-4...)

Nice shots this week again!

Since I was in Southern France last weeks, I did not participate in this thread, but now there will be renewed opportunities. Here a photo of one of our last day of our holiday.

Went off for a stroll into the city to check out some camera shops and as I'm minus a bike at the moment I popped off some bike envy pics.

some pics from the Super takumar 135mm that followed me home

naturally testing out the Super Takumar meant another excuse for photographing the most photographed bottle brush in North Melbourne.

Oldschool, thanks for capturing those old-school clothes and tents and chairs and stuff, looks like they really had an eye on the details (or was it you .-). I'd love to have some sort of those trousers.

Borno, the heron pics are excellent as all your stuff is (it's like we already got used to it like that .-). Would like to know whether #1 is a tripod pan or handheld.

AOski, lovely dolls and they remind me of russian Pitroshkas. Who's that guy behind the hands ?

Dave, love the slight out-of-focus in the background with your red-hat-guy shots. I don't want your cam/lens-combo cause it's just too big for me :-)

Jezza the BW flower looks well framed and I'm always thinking if there's too much noise it is just underexposed (the more ISO the more critical) but I am no expert in this for sure.

Scott, great soccer action again. I was wondering why the yellow team all seem one head's length taller than the blues, but that's not to take away from your son's hattrick .-)

Legacy(before), #2 and #3 are just so good. Really like the mood in #2, it comes through very well the way you have caught it imo. The fireworks on #3 has great colors and the wind has cooperated graciously to put the smoke in the right place with even more colors, great shot !

Dave, I like geese they're my fave animals for their family-attitude, great pics and you have come quite close to the pack. You might remember me seeing those same Canada geese here in my town, which has only happened in the last couple of years.

Steve(brot), thanks for putting up those shots with the lens specs. The Zenitar 16/2.8 does not seem to loose too much on the FA 35/2 in this setting, sky is a tad more greenish on the Zen I think. The Valdai Helios (thanks again for specifying) does confirm to me the strenghts of that design, good colors and smooth OOF areas.

Rense, hope you had a joyful stay in southern France. Looks like it was for those bugs, too. My wild guess is that you have been to the Provence.

(xj)John(no), I am beginning to understand where the XJ in your name is coming from .-) Regarding the BMW bikes I am so astounded to see them going the futuristic design path since some time. I have had a little Yamaha XS400 ages ago and then decided to skip it cause it's just too much in the city. Congrats for the Super-Duper-Tak, a real winner lens for shure.

Dave, good capture of the sword-eater. Wonder what he did with the water melon.

Bruce, here's one to wetten your mouth. It is up to now the only one I have found in my drawers. PM sent.

Keep on posting in this thread,
Georg (the other)

Some Girls soccer action. Kids are keeping me busy this summer for sure. Georg us parents have noticed that also, our boys being larger than the other teams. It seems in their soccer league U14, a lot of other teams have younger kids playing at this level (12 year olds). It makes my kids team look big. It does not help that both my boys are about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 14 years old!!!

My daughter

Crossing the ball, no shot for anyone though

Another header for her

A teammate with a great header
