Only three entries this week, which is quite dissapointing. BUT: the tree entries were very different, and all were very interesting too. It was hard to decide for me, judging is not so much my thing. But I think I made up my mind, so here are the results.
Third place: Jan, with the innercity landscape
Your entry is a very original interpretation of the 'cityscape' and it is very recognisable for those living in the Netherlands. I like the story, and technically the photo is good. The train comming in - or is it leaving? - ads to the picture and gives it colour and dynamics. But I feel one thing is missing: the architecture part. Although there are flat buildings in the background, and these allotments are a kind of landscape architecture, I think the architecture part is too less to fulfill the challenge completely. But the interpretation is great, and the photo is good.
Second place: Rob, with the Early 19th Century Mill Town
I like this image and the pp in sepia tones. It's a good interpretation of the theme of the week, and it is a photo with history. The ambiguity between the buildings and the bridge - almost two centuries old - and the modern cars are part of the story. However, the photo is too busy IMO. I know, this is a common feature of many cityscape photos, but I am missing a central subject, a focus in this one a bit. The photo leaves me with the wish to visit this place once by myself....
First place - should be no surprise with 3 entries -
: Sheela, with the Town of Telc
It's a great photo, fitting the week theme perfectly. It shows history, has a great composition, and has a local flavour. When I saw it, I knew instantly it was made in the Chech Republic, I think on the basis of the architecture of the towers. The reflection in the water might be a cliché, but I like it
! Well done and congratulations with your first place.
Up to next week. I hope there will be more entries for the third week of year two. It can be found
here.
EDIT: DAN I SAW YOUR ENTRY JUST AFTER POSTING THIS POST. I AM SO SORRY!
I like your cityscape a lot! It's a classical one with a very nice skyline, and well performed technically. My apologies for not considering it in this judgement....
