Welcome to Picture of the Week 07/19/09 - 08/02/09 #72

Thanks seacapt (Ken) for hosting last weeks POTW thread it can be found Here

Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 07/19/09 to Sunday 08/02/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

The last of my Vegas shotos taken on Sunday 19th July - click on image for larger view

The stage for Le Reve at the Wynn (another Cirque water show)

A night view of Treasure Island

Yep I quit my day job and decided to open a bar in downtown Vegas

And the reason most come to Vegas visions of winning - this was sweet , our last day and we (well my wife) won a little bit of money. Enough to come home with some and that is a win

Let the posting begin

Some stuff from a busy weekend.

Pioneer Day is a state holiday in Utah, and is accompanied by parades, carnivals, rodeos and fireworks.

(click on image for larger version)

1) Float preview (FA 50mm f/1.4)

2) My daughter during a pie-eating contest (DA 18-250)

More pie-eating here: Pie-Eating Contest - a set on Flickr

A couple from the rodeo. I posted more in another thread.

3) Saddle Bronc (Takumar 135 mm f/2.5, 1/250, ISO 800)

4) Send in the Clowns (Takumar 135 mm f/2.5, 1/320, ISO 800)

More rodeo here: Days of 47 Rodeo - a set on Flickr

There are some very good shots here this week but I gotta say, Stratman, that last shot is perfect. You nailed the twisting river under the trees. To my eye, it's one of the better landscape shots I've seen in awhile. Just makes you want to sit by the river and quietly enjoy life.

You have got to go back there at dawn or dusk with a tripod and see what it looks like during the 'Golden hours"
haha, thanks Peter, it was an absolutely perfect day weatherwise, high 70's f, sunny, and barely any wind. and even though only 3 fish came to my hand, this one made it all worth it !!

And yes, she was released immediately after this photo was taken

Some great images again this week - as usual.
I don't have the time or patience to leave individual feedback like some (slow two finger typer), but I really appreciate it and I'm sure others do too. Thanks.

Light horseman, those are both excellent shots! Love the desaturation look in the second and the mist and the reflections... perfect.

Plamkton - nice panning I think you did well. And haah that last guy seems to have a slight advantage

Oldschool - Ummmm Calories ... that first one looks tempting - nice colors in #2.

Peter - ahh a break from the weddings nice to see. That is a razor thin DOF on the new lens well done. Love the Car shot - what a great idea. Precious last shot.

xjjohonno - looks like the helios 77 is bringing some color in your world , nice shots.

Rense - out participating in the Macro world good to see. Cool first shot , is that one of those Venus fly trap plants ? Nice colors and sharp shots.

mtroute - Nice series good expression on the candids.

jezza323 - another helios fan - good colors on the bike and nice mood on #2, the lazy hazy days of summer.

scatron - Yehaaw it's a rodeo ! Hope it was a fun day. Love the pie eating contest one that is priceless.

Stratman - good to hear and that is one fine fish nice capture on the hook as well on the lens.

AOski - good framing of a very reconizable building.

light horseman - I like #1 but realy like #2 great landsacpe.

Andras - branching out from boats and beer a nice series. Yes you do look serious in that shot - good acting

Thanks Dave! No, it's no Venus trap but a Sundew Plant. But it is carnivorous too, indeed.
Nice flowershots, like the last Dahlia one!

I went away from flowers this week, to bugs. Here's some from my latest walk around the block.

And one not as sharp as he looked in the viewfinder.

And a baby I found while out walking the yard.

Some nice shots I see since I was offline this past two days. Everyone, Great Job!!
