PROJECT 52-2-05 Architecture: Interior
Posted By: mithrandir, 07-31-2009, 09:47 PM

Our Assignment for Week 5 looks for Unusual Interior Architectural Details that catch your eye.
(Pictures to be taken and posted between 20090802 and 20090809).
Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-2 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
6. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
7. Any picture taken from 20090705 to listed closing date is acceptable for the
two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-2-51 & 52.

love that perspective Peter. When was that church built? I think Villanova church was built in the late 1800s, around 1880.

Wow, great submissions! I'll throw in my non-church interior to mix it up a bit:

Dan,
I wasn't sure so I checked it out. And I have to admit I'm surprised. After some digging on the web it seems that the building origins from late 19th century, possibly even younger than yours. To around 1890. Honestly I thought it's bit older than that.

The place where I work (in the corridor on the left, the last but one door). It doesn't look like an interior, but it is ...

Took my camera today to the library of our university. It’s located in one of the recently built buildings (of which I’ll post some photo’s in the PotW-thread tomorrow). It was hard to make a choice between two pics. Selected this instead of a overview of all libraryfloors, because ..... well, I just did :-)

The library is build around an imaginary round space which has daylight from above and a room for special exhibitions under the glass at the bottom. The “bulb” is finished in woodwork.

I had several interior shots in mind at the beginning of the week, but the only one that was realized is this fisheye photo of the Rieger pipe organ in the church I attend. I have enjoyed the music from this installation for nearly 20 years, but today was the first I took time with it photographically. I did a "de-fished" version for anyone that is interested, but felt that the resulting image was really too much.

Rieger Pipe Organ, Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church, Portland, Oregon

KMZ MC Zenitar 16/2.8 f/5.6

While some might argue that this is not architecture, I would answer that the organ is truly an installation and is a much a part of the church sanctuary as the paneling, windows, and doors.

Steve

(Compared to the majestic churches above, mine looks a little sad...but you work with what you got!)
