Welcome to Picture of the Week 07/26/09 - 08/9/09 #73

It's my honor to be hosting you fine folks this week. Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 07/19/09 to Sunday 08/02/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

@rense - thanks for the comments; those moths shots are impressive!

Went blueberry picking yesterday with the kids; landed about 15 lbs of fresh, no spray berries not including what we ate while picking!

I really like this one. Should be a winner!!
We hope so. She was lying on her back among the flowers to get that shot.

These are a few I liked...
What's up with the white mantis? Normal coloration?

Some of my catches of today, at the Infantery Shooting Range where I worked today.

I hope you like them....
I like them.

Nope, unfortunately not. We only have 2 bushes in our backyard but live within 5 minutes driving of some decent sized farms that allow you to pick your own for almost half of what store-bought blueberries cost.

Thanks for hosting this week, AOski.

Still very hot here, so a few macros from the back yard. (All with the Kiron/Vivitar 105/2.5 on K20D)

I am thoroughly intimidated by the quality of this week's submissions. All of you simply "rock"!

I like these both. When cropping the first one, straighten it a bit to.

That last one is really nice. I like.

1) Architecture. This needed cropping - it was taken through the windshield of a moving car.

3) Wildlife in the wild:

We went to a summer festival called Heritage days. Countries from all over the world set up little tents and exhibits and most have samplings of their local food. Alos a few of them have shows. Here are some of the dancers. I don't envy these guys as it was like 34 degrees C - and some of these costumes looked very thick !

That looks like a fun festival, Dave. The Ukrainian costumes in particular are very photogenic!

Here are a few bird pictures (most of my birding is in winter, but can't resist a few if I can catch them).

And his mate

And a Lesser Goldfinch eating the Star thistles

Had to take a shot at catching some lightning that was in a very active front blowing thru.

Nice captures of the lightning, Tom. We don't get much lighting where I live. But a full moon does light up the view from my backyard.
