PROJECT 52-2-06 Architecture: Stairs
Posted By: mithrandir, 08-06-2009, 07:17 PM

Our Assignment for Week 6 looks at stairs. We encounter them everyday. Now we will tackle them photographically.
(Pictures to be taken and posted between 20090809 and 20090816).
Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-2 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
6. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
7. Any picture taken from 20090705 to listed closing date is acceptable for the
two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-2-51 & 52.

Great stuff Tima & sheela,

I also don't have much chance to get out & shoot, but have one recent one to contribute:
A stairfall... hope that counts as stairs...
Reminds me of when the pipes in my neighbor's house broke

Stairs to Stardom

Rather simple steps just off a stage lead to limelights.

I found some time this afternoon to shoot some stairs. The one I want to submit for this challenge are the stairs of the large weirs of Driel in the river Rhine, near the place where I live. I thought B&W would fit this one....

Shot with the Zenitar 16mm f/2.8 fisheye @ f/8.0, ISO1, 1/200"

I had hoped to get downtown to the big municipal buildings in Federal Sq, unfortunately life interfered as it sometimes does. So I went out walking to look for interesting stairs and found these right next door. This house has been abandoned since before I moved here in 1996, don't know why it hasn't been either sold or condemmed, but here it sits. The retaining wall in the front collapsed two winters ago during a nor'easter. I usually don't to b&w conversions but this one seemed to warrant it, I went for a bit of a darker mood.
Taken with the K20D and the 43 ltd.

If anyone is interested more shots (mostly color) can be found here:

Rense,
I saw your stairway shot on the Fisheye Fever thread and figured that it was taken with this project in mind. What a great image.
