Picture of the Week - 08/02/2009 - 08/16/2009: Everybody join in!
Posted By: Rense, 08-09-2009, 04:15 AM

Welcome to Picture of the Week 08/02/09 - 08/16/09 #74

Another week started over here, and just to prevent that yesterdays pics become lost in the tail of last weeks POTW, here's another one, brand new, with new opportunitie .

Thanks AOski for hosting last weeks POTW, the thread can be found here.

Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 08/02/09 to Sunday 08/16/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Had to go for a bit of a commute today so to entertain myself I thought I'd take the fisheye for company.

rense: my favourite is the pic with the bee, wonderful macro. congrats for the A/50mm, it has a lovely bokeh

andras: the second one is very nice, I would dare to say I'd liked a macro of the almost falling drops

dave: my favourite is the pelican with the beak open congrats

eccs19: hahhah indeed the pic is very funny. congrats for the 500mm it has its charm
scarry spider Im a bit agoraphobic but I admit it's an interesting shot (both in fact)

scatron: nice action shots

kevin, Im envious you captured lovely birds (especially the last one with nice detail in the feathers)

jan: my favourite is the frogie - some part of its head looks translucent

rollsup: very interesting landscape, very refreshing - it matches the little girl too

jim: love the last shot of the hummingbird

jezza: you have beautiful landscapes, congrats

ventury: the second shot to the baloon is great

borno: as usually, great pictures of birds, the first one is very "dreamy", congrats

virgilr: the juxtaposition of colors is the most appealing, imho, thanks for sharing

maxwell: I like the first portrait best for the emotional traces

macgirl: talking strategy is a very funny and beautiful picture

reeftool: beautiful shots especially the first one. by the look of it the heron was playing hide and seek with you :P

frank: dont call it weed, its a beautiful flower, thats why you stopped by nice done

scott: the face of that kid is pretty funny, well spotted

mecrox: indeed a nice one, love the colors of the butterfly's "fur" - persian greyish

melvin: that's a top notch shot that fruit basket looks puzzling enough and adds something special to the atmosphere

seacapt: the dragonfly is very nice. for a change, that pear looks weird

jbrowning: cute rabbit by the way it had the whiskers all like needles it seems it was aware of your presence

legacyb4: playing at sunset, that ball seems to have history

garth: funny frog (this one has, for a change, her nails cut and shoes on)

xjjonhoo: I envy you for that fisheye; beautiful city shots, the one I like best is the second one

some from me too:

this first one is a bit "trashy" because of many faults, but I like it because of the feeling of "beginning" it gives to me

I bow my hat to the photographers who shoot macro of citrics so well, it's pretty hard, imho to shoot such subjects

have fun shooting

OK It's Summer in this hemisphere , lots of flowers and bugs.First I really like dragonflies as a subject and I'm trying to get the ultimate dragonfly shot(good thing I don't have to use film). Second is a heavy crop of the orchid picture I posted earlier with some moderate PP

Some days since I had time to comment, so it's a long, long list. But some of you made them even longer! First I want to say I really enjoyed going through this thread, there are so many good pics!

Frank - great shots of Frisco, the last one stands out, but I also like the ambiguity in the old-new shots.
Seacapt - that last dragonfly is great, nice colours and sharp.
Eccs - nice shots with this long glass! What lens did you buy? I just got a 500/8 mirror lens myself, a Tokina. Not very much success until now, and I can't find time/rest to go out shooting. Maybe tomorrow...
Tom - that heron shot is great. Great mood, made around sunset/sunrise?
Scott - nice captures, crops or not. #3 is my favourite.
Eccs - a good macro series! That last one has so much detail.
Jim - I like that rabbit, you don't see them that much over here (at PF )
Jeff - great lens! That last one is razor sharp....
Garth - that one is funny. Good capture!
Xjjohnno - I always like fisheye shots. The last one is my fave, well done!
Sheela - nice shots, I like the stairs. Have to make one myself, before running out of time....
Seacapt - very nice, that orchid stands out!
Paul - great series, those octopus are very good, I like them!
Eccs - more very nice photos! Golf courses can be hazardous when you're not taking care!!
Ozlizard - great scenery, what lens did you use?
Captmacq - a very colourful bird portrait, well done!
Innershell - wedding cakes? I can't see wedding cakes, you must have missed focus... Nice shots
Xjjohnno - very nice, that pigeon is very nice, but it has to go to a hairdresser!
