Picture of the Week #75 - 08/09/2009 - 08/23/2009 - Let's see what you've got.

Welcome to Picture of the Week - 08/09/2009 - 08/23/2009 - #75

Well I've never hosted before, so I figured, "what they hey!". Hope I get all these crazy dates accurate.

Thanks Rense for hosting last weeks POTW, the thread can be found here.

Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 08/02/09 to Sunday 08/16/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Strange Wasps

Just shot this earlier. A very common sight here in the summer, but this nest was strange to me because of the different coloring of the wasps. In all the wasp nests I've dealt with I've not ever seen this before.

It was a dark and stormy morning: (I guess we need the rain anyways)

Some really nice photos here this week. I've been busier than those wasps I saw, shooting some gulls and a few other things. I do not like this CVS (Kodak like) 400. It's way to grainy for my tastes.
But here's a tree frog I found hiding in a leaf on our persimmon tree. Frog shot with a 50mm 2.0 at f2 and ISO 400.

And a butterfly I found down by the river the day before I found the frog. Shot with Sigma 70-300mm at 300mm on Macro. Same film. f11. can't remember the shutter speed but I think it was high.

And one last one. A dragonfly waiting for me to shoot him/her. Dragonfly shot with same film same lens set at 300mm but not macro.

Thanks Dave, and I must add, your Macro photography is coming along fine. Some nice shots.
Actually I like the cabin shot with the drifting smoke, what a relaxing shot. Nicely done.

Playing with my old Tokina ATX 80-200 F2.8; trying to decide if I should sell it off or keep it. The thing weighs 3x as much as a future DA 55-300mm and is definitely something you have to commit to carrying for the day should you choose to use it. Still, a 200mm F2.8 isn't something to scoff at...

F2.8, 1/250, 170mm, manual focus & handheld (for practice)...

Oh the joy of having a bike again, skipped the park today and a ride to the mouth of the Yarra River. Note the lovely capacious camera bag on the bike, no compromising for me having to resort to a point and shoot camera.
