Picture of the Week #75 - 08/09/2009 - 08/23/2009 - Let's see what you've got.
Posted By: eccs19, 08-16-2009, 10:17 AM

Welcome to Picture of the Week - 08/09/2009 - 08/23/2009 - #75

Well I've never hosted before, so I figured, "what they hey!". Hope I get all these crazy dates accurate.

Thanks Rense for hosting last weeks POTW, the thread can be found here.

Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 08/02/09 to Sunday 08/16/09. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Start the week of with a few from yesterday.

1. A lovely spider!

2. I've been trying for a while to get some sort of bug in flight. This is my best to date.

Shot a wedding Friday and ended up with 500+ finished images to deliver to the bride/groom. Out of all those pics, this is the one that I kept going back to. There's just something about the FA50 that really makes it my favorite portrait lens (even moreso than the DA70 Limited).

That being said, the DA35 is still my favorite lens.

Went out last evening to Elk Island National Park. I will head back there. With it being so dry here the early part of summer there has hardly been any bugs, especially any mosquitos. Well last night while wearing short pants and a T-shirt I donated a good pint to make up for it. I will know better next time!

The Bison roam free in the Park. The first one I saw from the saftey of my car.

The next one I spotted was after I had walked down this trail about 3 kilometres into the woods, then it opened up into a meadow. This fellow was huge. I got within about 60 meters or so. I ran into one of the rangers in the park and he told me to be careful. Some of the bulls were not in the best of moods and he already had to rescue a couple of tourists.

It's really cool to see these guys in the 'wild' so to speak. No fence, no real protection, thank gawd for the Bigma !!

The last was as I was leaving the park . it was pretty dark so not the best shot, and I missed the focus , still I like it.

Hope you enjoy

Wonderful shots from everyone this week; like Daacon (and probably every other male on the thread), I'm partial to "Paddling Out"...

Standard sunset shot w/FA* 24mm

The test DA 40mm handled the variation in blues quite well:

Bought a hot plate so we made yakisoba (DA 70mm):

a few i took over the last week or so

late winter storm, although the temps have been high 20's celcius so its barely winter

and went for a little macro walk yesterday with the 50mm and some tubes

was something weird going on here, its either one of those things where the aphids feed the ants, and the ants protect the aphids, or the ants were doing a mass attack on the aphids.

Took my first stab at real estate photography this weekend to make the photos our agent is using to list our old house.
