Weekly Challenge #107 Wind
Posted By: mingdie, 08-19-2009, 02:04 AM

This weeks challenge is something we can't see. But we can see the effects of it all around us. Wind. Let us see how you picture wind. All interpretations are welcome. The challenge will close on the 25 August and winners will be posted the following day.

It could be the wind in your hair.

Or using the wind for your pleasure.

Or a little whisper of wind.

The fine print....

1. Post ONE photo (max 1000x1000).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.

Great theme Mingdie. Another "stretcher".
Here's my take on it: Washington DC Kite Festival 2007. Taken with the DS and the kit lens.

A cold and very blustery day on Pike's Peak in Colorado sometime in the late 1980s. The wind often runs down the barren slopes at over 100mph. Shot on Ektachrome side film and scanned in. Color is dead on match for original slide.

I'm waiting till Sunday. Hurricane Bill is coming and we're looking at a cat 2/3 force storm. Now all I have to do is convince my wife that I can safely leave her home when I go to the beach. Driving anywhere could be fun.

This will be the ultimate WS test for a Pentax.

I got this shot while out hiking today. It felt like the wind was blowing about 30 mph when we were out on San Bruno Mt., south of San Francisco. Hopefully I caught the feel of the wind in this shot.

Well Hurricane Bill was a bust. It stayed off the coast and all we got was a strong breeze and rain.

So this was taken a couple weeks ago:

The unusual horizontal habit of these trees is caused by the hot dry coastal winds which burn the leafs on the seaward side.
