Thanks eccs19 for hosting last weeks POTW thread it can be found Here

Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 08/16/2009 to Sunday - Sunday 08/30/2009. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Heron

I think I got him, or at least as good as I have ever had and not quite sharp

Shot a dance this weekend. This was my favorite of the many pics taken during the event. Story behind it is on my blog.

Here is one I was still in the process of doing pp on when the other contest finished. The only regret I have on this is the oof gulls in the photo but since I can't direct these camera hogs out of the photo, this is what I got.

Thanks for hosting again, Dave.

It seems to be a week for birds so far!

Dave, your blue jays up there are prettier than our version (Western scrub jay) that are down below (frightening off the hummers I was still trying to catch). Nice hip cat(fish)!

Tpeace (Tom) - you succeeded with the hummers!

Scott - you've found a nice blue heron there!

Maxwell1295 - beautiful shot of a beautiful couple!

Photolady - not sure which birds you have there!

xs400 - like #1 particularly!

One of the three Western scrub jays who "own" my back yard and cuss at me when I walk out there

Hi All !
Dave , Thanks for hosting!
It's been a while since I've touched my cameras. Been averaging 70 hr. work weeks. On my way to a job Sat. I said ----- this and pulled off on one of my favorite hunting roads to take some pictures of wild flowers. I don't go too deep into the woods at this time of year because of heat , bugs and snakes. Got some pretty cool shots but don't know what they are so identifications are welcome. In a short time out of the truck I spooked a covey of bobwhites and a 4 ft. black snake then a copperhead that almost let me step on it spooked me ( check shorts , go back to work).
1&2 Look like the plant from " Little Shop of Horrors " to me.
3&4 Just a couple pretty little flowers.
5 Did I mention we have big spiders here at this time of year. Don't know what kind this is but the other side is a grey upper body that looks like a skull. These are about 2 1/2 inches long and I saw one kill a full grown tree frog once.
Will try to post a few more as time permits.

Tom - great humming bird shots - #2 is perfect isolation. Good find.

Scott - noce shot I even like the blurred grass in the forefront. Patience is the key for these guys and of course luck comes into play.

Alan - great shot I can see why you like it. Reminds me of the famous Life photo at the end of WWII - well done.

Photolady - I have many of those as well - Lately I am trying spot metering and sleective focus, usually chossing the center spot. This seems to increase my shots in focus in what I actually want in focus.

Frank - good to see the trusty K10D out there. Like the second one nice PP.

Kevin - thanks for the comments. My nieghbour puts out peanuts and the Jays come over and grap them, them sometimes head to my roof to crack them open. Our Jays may be prettier but your shots are a lot sharper than mine well done !

seacapt - 70hrs a week - man that's brutal , although I have certainly been there done that (once put well over 300 hrs in a month) really don't hope to ever go there again. Nice shots. I love the spider shot that is very good. Great colors and detail. Edit and Yep Feed me Semor !

Do I live in the desert ? Well there are 2 or 3 days here where we get desert temperatures I suppose. Taken at the Muttart Conservatory where climate control is automated.

Nice shots everyone. Dave, thanks for hosting and getting everything started. Here's a couple from a Renaissance Faire yesterday taken in between rain showers....

This one is not very good, but the timing was great (fake blood of course)....

A Real Aussie!

Here are a couple of shots of a "Real Aussie". For a wild Kangaroo, it was rather cooperative for me as it nibbled the grass.
