Posted By: daacon, 09-06-2009, 06:40 AM

Welcome to Picture of the Week #78 08/30/2009 - 09/13/2009

I am not sure if Frank asked anyone or not if so they can certainly take over next week - I am up, it's raining outside so what the heck !

Thanks Frank (xs400) for hosting last weeks POTW thread it can be found Here

Once again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 08/30/2009 to Sunday - Sunday 09/13/2009. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Previous hosts: (each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 77 weeks Thanks to Peter who started the links it was a lot of editing )

Dave, you should post one picture per post, it'll bring the 100 posts in sight a bit sooner!
Thanks for hosting!

daacon - nice study of the bridge. I like the shadows.
blackcloudbrew- what a cool tree with the gnarly, moss covered branches!

Here's one more step to 100: "Grooming Ritual"

You can see a full body view of this insect in the "Post your Photos" forum if you are interested.

I'm in too!

@daacon - where's that bridge?
@blackcloud - I really like that first trail pic
@swengineer - cool shots of the mantis; I don't see them up here (or I'm not looking in the right places!)

Another view of the marshlands in Minnekhada Regional Park near the house:

and a bit of history for us Canadians (the actual prosthetic leg that Terry Fox used in his run across Canada):

Dave said it, "Let's Break 100 Posts !" I'll drink to that!

Of course, at my age I'll have to stop by here if I drink too much of that beer!

Here are are some Spring shots to help the count and to add to this week.
I have a fairly free week this week so I should be able to produce some more before the weeks out.
Thanks for hosting (again!!) Dave, I was thinking of taking it up myself but you beat me to it, time difference and all

Another Sat that I had to work so I threw the cam case in the truck . Finnished up around 6:30 and headed over to the beach for "Golden Hour" shots only to find the clouds had moved in too dark for people pics and too cloudy for sunset pics. While driving to the house the sky changed and I pulled over into a public trailer ramp to find this.
Dave - Since you're going for #'s I'll post a couple more from This "Golden Minutes" group in later posts

Dave let's do it!

In the past few months I managed to acquire three F series zooms. Here they are:

The 35-105 is a super sharp lens even at the ends. The 28-80 has very useful focal lenght and also quite sharp once stopped down. The 35-70 is the latest (it arrived on Friday) also seems to be very nice. I paid less than 250 US Dollars for the three alltogether. On one occasion my Erika met the the guy who sold one of the lens and she told him that she thought he didn't know what he really sold for only 60 Dollars. Well she was right (well trained woman hahaha)

This one is with the 28-80:

Keep posting! Andras

and the same in monochrome:

Thanks for jumping on board eveyone !

Rense - good point but that would be cheating - Now get out there and shoot and post

Tim - love the velvety texture of the trees, it prevokes an errie feeling. Peppers are one of my favorites vibrant colors.

Mark - they do indeed groom alot you would think with all that praying excellent shots.

Jeff - great landscape of the Marsh and yeah I am old enough to remember when Terry Fox ran - very cool. Edit - The bridge is in downtown Golden BC

Frank - atta boy ! But MSD is best served in a chilled bottle or glass. I hear ya on the porta potty once you start ...........

Bruce - You can host the next one just start it up on Sunday. That is a nice series , the flowers look like they are dancing in #1. Like the last one as well.

secapt - wow that is a pretty dramatic colored sky.

xjjohonno - natural enemies cats and birds well done.

Andras - that is quite a collection you got going. I prefer the monochrome version.

Now here is a little history I did not know. We went to Fort Edmontom Park today. A bit overcast but not a bad way to spend a few hours. I still have lots of mountain shots to post but for a little break here ya go.

A 1928 Harley Davidson Motorcycle with sidecar and a story as to why they are called hogs (I had no idea). Bad lighting and very roped off cramped quarters best I could do. Pretty plush seat in the sidecar eh

Wonderful set of photos already.

And I had a family function today with me as official pro photographer so mine won't be posted until Tuesday. I did manage to get some nature shots in though.

Since I missed the last of last week's POTW, I wanted to thank Frank for his comments on my snail. Thanks Frank it's appreciated.
