Picture of the Week #84 10/11/2009 - 10/25/2009
Posted By: Rense, 10-19-2009, 03:56 AM

Welcome to Picture of the Week #84 10/11/2009 - 10/25/2009. Hosting this week gives me some urge to visit the POTW more often

Thanks Georg (gawan) for hosting last weeks POTW thread it can be found Here

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 10/11/2009 to Sunday - Sunday 10/25/2009. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Previous hosts: (each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 83 weeks. Peter started the links, I know it had to be a lot of editing!!

Just one to get started. A bramble leaf, suddenly attacked by early frost.

I haven't been able play here in a while, nor much with the camera of late, but did get to go shoot some football this weekend - 5th graders.

Very nice shotting Andreas. I really think we should have the right to remove powerlines and light poles!

Here's a few from Saturday midget football:

Wow - some nice stuff already.

Here's one from a classic Irish Pub with an old fashioned kitchen...

Andreas - What a nice set of autumn pictures. I myself hate autum, it makes me melancholic.... The beech leave is the best one imo.
Jim - These are all great! The emotion in the last one is nicely captured.
Tom - Very good action shots. Those helmets look like enormous water-heads on those small children!
Ash - Great atmosphere, and a great picture! I like the perspective on this one.

Awesome fall shots so far, makes me almost forget to dread what comes next on the calendar!

Jim,

Tell them at Union I'm ready to adopt them as my favorite kids' team if they swap the order of the colors on those helmets...

Here's the view I'm more familiar with:

Missed posting in POTW for a few weeks so here's a couple from my little girl's horse show this past weekend. Horrible lighting at night in a barn/indoor arena (and I really don't like to use the flash around the horses considering how many photos I take) but a few keepers.

Thanks Rense for hosting this week. That last macro of the fungi is superb.

Just to counter those Melburnian bird shooters, I managed to sneak up on a nice example of a tiger snake. I was trying for a macro of her head, but she decided I was just to close and left. I'd already walked past her on the same path and tried for a shot, but she was just too wary. Got her half an hour later on the way back.

I'll have to get a monopod for just this situation. Use catch in focus and gently slide the camera to the head. I'm happy to get close enough to get a boot over the snake, but shots from above do not do justice. Getting down at face level is not really an option!!

Nothing arty just a snapshot:

Good photo. I'm so glad we didn't meet any of those last Saturday.

Thanks for hosting Rense, a lovely collection so far. Dale, I'm jealous, the best myself and Jane have done so far at snake pics is finding a pining one, pining so long it was but bones and no skin.
A pic or 2 from my latest Ebay buy, a Meyer Optik Orestor and some fisheye pics around the CBD.
