So it's time to see your stuff from last week and this upcoming week.

Welcome to POTW #87 and counting. Nice stuff last week posted here Picture of the week #87 Nov 1 - Nov 15 2009

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday 11/8//2009 to Sunday - Sunday 11/22/2009. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

Previous hosts: (each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 86 weeks. Peter started the links, I know it had to be a lot of editing!!

My latest macro project: the life of a soap bubble!!!

Bigger version

Bigger version

Bigger version

Bigger version

#1. A perfect mix of water and glycerine on the bubbles surface. The swirl is caused by the air current made by turning the focussing ring!
#2. The layers start to get more turbulent and start seperating out
#3. The glycerine and water are now starting to come out of solution, you get these amazing looking blobs moving towards the bottom of the bubble
#4. The blobs settle at the very base of the bubble, the black is my background card seen through the now transparent bubble. Time to move my lens as the bubble will shortly burst!

Enjoy

Carl

The place even had its own post office and air strip at one point.

Daughter's team made my life hard. They made it within 3 games of the state title in the state tournement. Still learning how to deal with poor to average lighted fields, but here are some shots.

the fight for the ball

My daughter coming off the field for the last time in her high school varsity career

Also had my first sales from the sports photography this weekend. Yeah!!

A rather inglorious end to the end of Fall Baseball season for us here. Last weekend my oldest son's Babe Ruth League team lost in a single ellimination tournament 25-1 (really out classed by an older team). This week although the weather was beautiful the field was deemed too wet for safe play due to the 5 days of rain prior so the 2 home Little League teams wont get to battle it out.
Well the big one is currently on the middle school soccer team and just made the wrestling team for a Winter sport , Fall fishing is in full swing and it's finally cooling off enough to go hunting without being eaten alive by mosquitoes but I'm gonna miss watching my boys play baseball for a few months.
Gee I dragged this camera down to the field , what can I take pictures of?

That is Grossinger's Resort in Liberty, NY.

It has stood empty since 1986.
Well I did a search on the Borshet Belt Hotels and this did come up, so wondered if this was it.

it really is a shame .. I loved those hotels.. never went to one, but I'm guessing they would have been a great place to take some interesting pictures.

I'm rediscovering the pleasure of looking at random and beautiful pics in the POTW thread. some are stunning (like the water mini-series, and not only). thanks everybody for sharing. I took these two with a recently acquired Sigma mini-wide II MC--in the process of testing it, but so far I like the lens a lot.

Wish I could have gotten some in too, but I've been too sick to get out and take any.
