Weekly Challenge #118 – Minimalism

The challenge explained:
Minimalism is art that emphasizes simplification of form, as by the use of basic shapes and monochromatic palettes of colours, objectivity, and anonymity of style. I have been exploring minimalism when I can in my photos and trying to recognise which subjects benefit from this perspective. There are various interpretations of minimalism so I will be looking for photos that show a subject in basic form, yet still has an impact and/or is aesthetically pleasing.

Challenge Starts:
Now!

Challenge Ends:
Tuesday, Dec. 1st @ 11:59pm EST

Results:
Wednesday, Dec. 2nd

The fine print....
1. Post ONE photo (max 1000x1000).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.

Here's mine. Shot inside an empty exhibit room at the National Building Museum yesterday in Washington DC, converted to BW, noise added in photoshop.

Here's my entry. Had taken a couple other shots, but then I had the idea to use the selective filter feature in the K20. I liked the way the red popped, yet everything else is subdued. Hope you like it too.

Downtown Snow

This was captured with a K100D, handheld, while awaiting the start of a photo class at a downtown camera shop last year.

The wall of the Forbidden City, Beijing. Took the image when I back to China in May.
