The New Years POTW is here

thanks for reeftool for asking me to host

Picture of the Week 94 : 27 Dec 2009 - 3 Jan 2010

I look forward to seeing all of the New Years celebration photos, lets make this a big week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date : Sunday, 13 Dec 2009 to Sunday, 3 Jan 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 94 weeks.

I am very impressed with the postings thus far. What a brilliant line up of shots.

Jezza : great shots of a Tree Frog? Very well taken. And one good point, it is not a Cane Toad.

Foster : is that some sort of dish, or part of a building? Nicely taken.

Dave: as I have said before, really enjoy your snow shots. Well done!

Richard : from Dave's White Christmas to "Down Under" Christmas. Gives the real feel of the Christmas holiday season in Aus.

Johnno : are you south of the border guys working together? Nice shots mate!

Dave : the colours in those shots are great. Very well done!

Oldschool : Beautiful Christmas shots. I really like #1

Ash : that is some really top Macro work, mate. Excellent. They dont come much sharper that #2

Jezza, : Might be our favourable weather but we Aussies seem to be on a real roll this week. Well done, again.

Matiki : Great bird shots, well taken. My favourite is the silhouette of the Well Bucket and Pulley.

Peter, : that is a really top shot. The crispness and contrast. Brilliantly done.

Rense: Makes me feel cold looking at your shots. Love the monochrome.

Bruce some of us catch up occassionally.
Pics from the last couple of days, some just first pics with recent Ebay buys that missed the pre Xmas post.

CZ Jena Biotar 58mm f2 that the seller failed to mention early fungus stages in his description. Thankfully it only cost me $60 AUD and I have the tools to clean it up quite nicely so all up still a bargain.

Today we popped into the Melbourne Aquarium, a bugger of a place for decent pics as you have moving subjects with very low shutter speeds. eVEN PUMPING UP THE iso LEAVES VERY LITTLE TO WORK WITH.

jezza323 - Thanks for the comments (missed it on the last one) it is a great place to spend christmas

OldSchool - not so cold quite bearable actually but it's all what you are use to and climatized for Nice pics of the Big Apple - looks very festive.

Ash - great series such colors ! The flowers are wonderful but that last shot really stands out well done.

jezza323 - 45 shots !! Man I am not sure I have a computer that would process that most I have done is about 12 - very cool shot (looked at the large size as well).

Bruce - nice low lighting in the fist one - very pinkish.

Matiki - nice variety , great sky in #1 the birds are nice and the BW ones offer a nice contrast. My faviorite is the view from the ferry well done.

Peter - stunning shot and I would never had guessed ISO 1600 - wow - I hope Ney Year's truns out nice , bring lots of batteries !

Rense - nice winter scenes seems you are getting the same percipatation we are.

Bruce - thanks for the comments. I enjoy your summer shots as well - gives me something to look forward to !

Ramseybuckeye - cool series - nice capture on the snow boarder. Great landscapes as well - I hear ya have not seen the sun here for a week or so. (at least it feels that long probably more like days)

oche - great capture nice wide shot. I like the fact it is BW.

Johyn - nice birds . I like the aquarium shots very clear for difficult lightening conditions, and of course the fisheye !

jezza323 - nice cemetary shots. I keep meaning to do that and have not yet.

Week started out slow but finishing with a bang !

Here are some from yesterday. I just ran out of the house for a few minutes. (Busy day at work). These could almost pass for infrared.

Things got a little busy the beginning of the week at work so the camera sat idle for a few days. My grandson finally made it over Tuesday and got his presents opened. I was on my way out to work but fired off a couple of snapshots with the kit lens and on camera flash. It's been brutally cold so I haven't shot much outside but to throw in my Christmas "bird" shot, I took one of an ornament on our tree with a 55/f2 Tak with an extension tube.
