PROJECT 52-2-26 Lighting: Sunrise or Sunset
Posted By: mithrandir, 12-30-2009, 11:09 AM

For Week 26, midway through year 2 of Project 52, we will endeavor to capture a sunrise (or sunset for you late risers). This will be our first project week firmly into 2010. What will this new year bring in terms of talent, ingenuity, and techniques? Will Rense even see the sun for this competition?

(Pictures for the week 26 competition are to be taken and posted between 20100103 and 20100110).

NOTE: We have two Seasonal competitions planned for the last two weeks of year two. You may take pictures for these anytime between 20090705 and the posting dates of 20100704 or 20100711. This way you can include your favorite holiday or season whenever it occurs during the year.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-2 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax
cameras are allowed. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20090705 to listed closing date is acceptable for the
two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-2-51 & 52.

Went out this morning to do a little shooting. Used a newly aquired M42 Tair 11A (135mm f/2.8) stopped down to f/11. Did someone say a portrait-only lens?

06:07, 20 seconds exposure:

OK I'm on here on an iffy connection so I won't go into depth on commenting and will only list the top three that I like.

3rd goes to Bramela. I love the silhouette of the birds on this image.

2nd goes to Mithrandir's Stained Glass Sunset. A beautiful image of a sunset IMO with the evening colors contrasting with the silhouette of the trees.

1st place goes to Rense. Love the light fog coming off the river in the late evening and the geese? really adds to this image.

Congratulations, Rense. Thanks to all the other participants, I liked all the images that were entered, including the late ones.

Thanks for the 3rd, I appreciate that, and congratulations to both other winners.
That's a great shot, Rense, and a very deserved winner.

Thank you for the first place, I'm feeling honoured! Congrats to the other winners and to all the other entries. Very nice pictures this week, none excluded! Great job you all.

I hope to see many great entries for the next P52-(27) - framing. Probably you feel not so sure about what is meant with this theme. Rob has given some web sites in his starting post, but also in the starting post of P52-28 there is a nice link (after some browsing): framing. It has some nice examples!!

Have fun shooting!

I am really glad you were there to capture that shot, Rense. I have really enjoyed it ... so many delightful elements.
