PROJECT 52-2-29 Perspective: Low Angle Shot
Posted By: mithrandir, 01-20-2010, 06:44 PM

For Week 29 we will continue working with perspectives. This week we will work on the Low Angle Shot, one of three frequently used shooting perspectives. The following links will lead you down the correct path:

This first link is directed at video, but still holds true for stills: Basic Training: The Low Down on Low Camera Angles

Use of angles: The Effects of Camera Angles on a Viewer's Emotions | eHow.com

How To Use Different And Multiple Photography Angles

low angle shot -- (noun) (in motion pictures or photography) a shot taken with the camera placed in a position below and pointing upward at the subject.

(Pictures for the week 29 competition are to be taken and posted between 20100124 and 20100131).

NOTE: We have two Seasonal competitions planned for the last two weeks of year two. You may take pictures for these anytime between 20090705 and the posting dates of 20100704 or 20100711. This way you can include your favorite holiday or season whenever it occurs during the year.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-2 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax
cameras are allowed. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20090705 to listed closing date is acceptable for the
two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-2-51 & 52.

Treebeard's Nephew

I was really excite by Dave's entry and the beautiful blue colors. Then I realized, I am not photogenic like Dave. I tried to track down a subject, err a model to fill-in. Finally talked Treebeard's nephew, Oakfuzz to stand still for a minute.

I still managed to get in on the blue theme.

Great shots you've posted, Dave and Rob! Like the blue colours.
This one was shot this morning at the campus of the Wageningen University.
It's the Atlas building just before a rain shower...;D.

Making the Mini a Maxi

Thought I'd use the low angle effect to make a Mini larger. I only wish I'd found one in better shape and not parked right up next to a curb...couldn't get as low as I'd have liked. If I find another...or even a Smart car...Hmmm

I thought I'd stick with the "blue sky" theme . Here's one of my bikes on the upper berth of a rack.

Self portrait taken today. Some of you may remember I was in a serious motorcycle accident back in September. I still have some stiffness in my left shoulder, but I am riding again.

Your image has quite an ethereal look to it Iris. Beautiful staircase and did you add a bit of vignetting on the edges?
