Picture of the Week 01/17/10-01/31/10 Everyone Join In!
Posted By: planedriver, 01-24-2010, 04:51 AM

Welcome to this 98th edition of the PotW. Really great week thanks Rense for hosting and also thank You for inviting me for this week! This is the Week 98-and Week 100 is not far away so I decided to open the "Unofficial Preparation for the the Week 100" which means nothing else but shoot and post and shoot and post...so by the time the Great Week arrives participating will be a natural habit

Picture of the Week 98: January 17, 2010 to January 31, 2010.

Most important note: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date: Sunday Jan 10 2010 to Sunday Jan 24 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 97 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense

Bruce only the cactus flower was with the Raynox. The others were from the 70-300mm on Macro. I've saved the small branch that the lichen is on and plan to use that later this week with the Raynox.

Someone in an earlier post had mentioned that they like winter and snow shots. Here's my contribution to that thought.

My goal was to take a shot with as little contrast as nature would allow.

This was looking out the front window of my truck on the way home today.

How'd I do on the lack of contrast?

That's pretty good. Need's a snazzy title, like "White Cow in Field in Snow Storm".

Not much happening here photography wise except for some pretty bland film work. A few from this last week...

Rense, Amazing marco shots - Just beautiful!

Mark, hope your visibility as the driver was better than as the photographer!

xjjohnno - Good sunset to night transition series. Maybe you can give me some tips for shooting locations near Melbourne as I might be stopping thru there in a few months.

Steve, You had nice texture to work with in those shots.

Ramsey, Your shots are reminding me of my home town near Lancaster, PA.

Stan, Your shots are making me feel cold! Please stop it! Love the first one!

Did one more session in the home studio...

Now I have to breakdown the studio and put my toys away so a professional photographer can come in and do shots for a real estate listing. Told the realtor I'd do it but he wanted to use his own guy. Seems I can't even break into the pro world even when I'm the client! Go figure!

regards

Tpeace, the bayside anywhere east of Port Melbourne's Station Pier which is where these were shot will get you decent sunset over water pics, otherwise the west side of the city which is mainly grasslands once you are past the suburbs should work well also. Surises if you want water are best done from Williamstown.
PM us when you're in town and I'll show you some not bad close to town bird locations as well.

Here is a nice warm photo. Nothing sucks more than driving 15 miles to the rink, only to find out you are the only one silly enough to drive through a snow storm to play rec ice hockey. Until 5 mins later when everyone else shows up, they were late because they were stuck!

Just wish I could add some blue to the sky. Only 3 more months until spring!

i got up early this morning to capture the sunrise on our "Australia Day". I went to the top of Mt Cootha (its really just a hill) which overlooks Brisbane city.

This is a 5 shot HDR taken at -4, -2, 0, +2, +4 EV with my K200D and DA 18-55 AL II lens, click for bigger on flickr

Andras - thanks for the comments. It has been challenging with the lack of sunshine for sure.

Photolady - nice to see signs of growth ! Love that last one.

cyy47 - nice eye - love the lighting and shadows.

Rense - great macros are you know doing a study to see if indeed every snowflake is a unique design A great start !

Bruce - Thanks for the comments , glad I could cool you down for a bit. 45 degrees is brutal. As for my new avitar it's a long story but it was part of a recent bday gift... haha

Markf79 - looks like a real foggy day , love the way you captured the trees in the background.

John - nice captures byt he bay - love the yellow sunset.

Steve - very simple high key shots. Well done.

Ramseybuckeye - wow I think some BW conversion on those would work. Reminds me of a much simplier time.

Stan - love the mountains , nice series.

Tpeace - nice shots again - best of luck selling the house !

icywarm - ahhh a scene all to famaliar for me. 4x4 and Winter tires ensure we don't get stuck to often and if we do we have cell phones and AMA all winter necessaties I hear ya on the blue sky - it's been gray here for over a week.

jexxa323 - a morning well spent. Colors really pop.
