Posted By: xs400, 01-30-2010, 09:37 PM

Welcome to this 99th edition of the PotW. PotW 98 was a great week, thanks András for hosting and also thank you for inviting me for this week! This is Week 99 - Week 100 is fast approaching, which means nothing else but shoot and post and shoot and post...so by the time the 100th Week arrives participating will be a natural habit

Picture of the Week 99: January 24, 2010 to February 7, 2010.
Let's try to get more posts this week than last week. Let's see if we can break 100!
A special welcome to all new members: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

Most important note: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date: Sunday Jan 24 2010 to Sunday Feb 7 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 97 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver

Thank you all for the comments!

Dave - Great series, again, both of them. That Bison is impressive!!
Photolady - I like the first one. Is this the christmass or easter cactus variant? We're in between...
Peter - that looks surely cold..... the colours are great indeed!
Nomad - love the first two, well done!
Jezza - that last one is very minimalistic, but very beautiful too!
Mark - it looks like fun, great shot!
Frank - beautiful scenery...be careful with that bike
NanaClark - looks great, but probably would look greater if bigger
Timo - fun shot!
Ken - what a nice pictures! I like them both...
Bumbibop - noisy or not, those are very good!

Last weekend, I aquired a Tamron Adaptall 105/2.5 for some bucks. These are some of the first results (like the tulips in my first post in this thread...).

My wife

And attached to a Kenko Extension Tube (those spots are on the window, not on the sensor. And the red in the background is our neighbours car, do you like it?)

And my first macro bird-shot ever...;D. It's a rare silver stork...

Ken, I missed this one, but somehow I couldn't resist your big lime font....

Peter....Nice, I like the second one best. Makes me shiver from the cold it conveys.

Nomad... is that fried clams? If so, send me some. Looks yummy.

Jezza... Nice moody clouds. The leaf, good shot.

SWengineer, I did add contrast but didn't do much good. Can't figure out why these white flowers are coming out green tinted.
Sledding looks like fun. Haven't done that in years.

Nice place to stop and photoshoot, Frank. And thanks for the compliment.

NanaClark, nice shot. But you do know you can upload up to 800x800 here. Also you might check into a hosting site, where you can post even larger photos on here.

timo, now that is being really bored. LOL

Dave, thanks for the compliment.
Your deer and bison (I've never seen a bison in real life) great shots.

Seacapt, nice moon shot. Is the other one off kilter a bit? Even so, nice shot too.

bumbipop, I like the first one best.

Rense, nice to a photo of your better half. I like the shot of the flower. Wish my birds would sit that still. The cactus, is a Christmas Cactus. My sisters have several different colors of them, all in bloom.

Now I took this with the Raynox DCR-150. It's an aloe flower but as you can see it's more of an abstract photo rather than an awesome closeup.

Tell me what you think, but be nice. LOL

timo4352 - That's an interesting effect. I didn't know you could do that with the in camera filter.

Dave - Nice shots. Those animals look cold, I can't image how cold they must get at night. That last shot made me look twice - Oh, that's just a snow covered branch at the rear of that bison.

seacapt - I sure like that sunrise - very nice.

bumbibop - Nice series. I like the fisheye effect on #1. #3 is also quite good.

Rense - I like both those macros, especially the red one. My wife rarely let's me take her picture, count your blessings that your wife lets you take hers.

photolady - I like that abstract very much - nice work.

I took my wife out for lunch over the weekend. Surprisingly, she went to this place with me. Actually, the food is quite good and the bars on the windows do give it a much safer feeling.

After lunch, we went for a walk to burn off a few calories.

Barn just outside town on the way shopping with the wife. The geese flying in the background were a pleasant surprise when I opened the picture on the computer.

seacapt - nice sunset / sunrise great colors.

bumbibop - love the fisheye shot (a fan of those) - nice series.

Resne - thanks for the comments. Indeed the Bison;s are huge beasts. Congrats on the new lens. Wow I would have never guessed the red was a car , funky bokeh for sure but I like it

Photolady - thanks for the comments. We have some in a National Park that is only about 20 minutes from here so I try and get out there once in a while. That is an abstract shot - nice wavey lines.

Frank - thanks for the comments. Yeah I was wondering if anyone would make the comment that Bison is walking with a poll up his ass - Brave wife indeed gotta wonder about a side cafe with bars in the windows , then again it's all about the food. 7 mile burger sounds good to me I am a meatinator

Stan - love the first one - great framing with the barn and moutians and even the line of birds. Well done.

Well! Actually stuck a lens on the camera and did some crazy shots for 10 minutes, just to get back into the vibe!

Have to say- Rense, let's start an adaptall-2 love-in in this thread! Both shots below are with my adored adaptall-2 90mm f/2.8. This lens just excites me everytime I shoot with it! I also picked up a 70-210mm 19AH last fall for the right money- very happy with that lens, I must say! Heavy as a tank, though.

Stan- I was born in raised in Northwestern Montana! Bitteroot valley- yup, a rutter, that's me. Thank you so much for sharing your shots- makes me a trifle homesick, even though I've been here in Montreal for almost 13 years now...

Well, here they are, my contribution for this week, and some amazing shots by all!

Stan - I like that first shot, very nice.

Dave - I can see how snow and cold is definitely part of life where you live. I really like the last pic. Minimalist for sure, but I like it, well done.

irishwhite - They call the golden hour for a reason, and you captured it well. I just wish we could see the top of the steeple on the church.

virgilr - The first pic is quite interesting. Nice abstract. The second shot has an interesting DOF and bokeh.

bumbibop - Nice close up - is that disk make out of carbon fiber?

I went pelican hunting today but with the constant drizzle mixed with heavy rain, I didn't have much luck. Going back to that "Bird Island" this weekend, hopefully will have some nice photos for next week's POTW.

Frank, thanks for the compliment on my first ever abstract. Love the second photo you have there. Looks like a nice place to take long walks.

Stan, love the barn shot. Nicely done.

Dave, thanks for compliment. Love that last shot. Is that a frozen lake, that stretch of white?

Irish, love this one. I've seen this when I lived up north, never get a chance to take a photo like this now, not with flat ground here.

virgil, nicely done on the flower photo.

bumbipop, I'm not into machinary, but this is a nice photo.

jord, nice one.

As I said, no pelicans but I found this in among our rose bushes. It's an young airplant. Very tiny, until I used the Sigma on it.
