Picture of the Week 01/24/10-02/07/10 Everyone Join In!
Posted By: xs400, 01-30-2010, 09:37 PM

Welcome to this 99th edition of the PotW. PotW 98 was a great week, thanks András for hosting and also thank you for inviting me for this week! This is Week 99 - Week 100 is fast approaching, which means nothing else but shoot and post and shoot and post...so by the time the 100th Week arrives participating will be a natural habit

Picture of the Week 99: January 24, 2010 to February 7, 2010.
Let's try to get more posts this week than last week. Let's see if we can break 100!
A special welcome to all new members: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

Most important note: feel free to post your shots from this week and last week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames there are no rules
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Date: Sunday Jan 24 2010 to Sunday Feb 7 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 97 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver

This cat didn't feel too keen on doing much other then keep cool.

Even the eschevarias were keeping their flowers mainly closed to keep in the moisture.

Thanks for hosting Frank - it was great to see you back on the bike (Project 52 shot). The body is an amazing machine for sure.

John - that Rose does look burnt. You guys really have the heat down there - not sure I would be stepping anywhere without AC or an ocean with those temperatures.

Rense - nice series I like the church one. Nice isolation in #3 as well.

A few from some recent walk abouts. Wednesday was the last clear skies day. Snowing (again) today with overcast skies. Man that gets old quick.

Prestine snow and blue skies .. ahhhhhhhhhh

A shadow of my former self

Thanks for hosting Frank.

xj, lovely photos. Like the rose best. The last one looks similar to some flowers I have in my yard but not sure if they are the same, based on where you are and where I am located.

Rense, love the church shot. The Tulips (?) are great and bright.

Dave, love number one, looks extremely cold though, and last one, greeting card for sure.

Since getting my K100D I've been shooting a lot of things with it. Here's a few I took over this week and weekend.

This was taken with a 28mm-80mm @77mm, I got from atupdate. Thanks!

This was taken with the 70-300mm @macro. I like it, but something seems to be missing.

Titmouse. These guys are sure hard to capture in the open. Always seeming to hide behind tree branches. Also taken with the Sigma lens on macro.

jezza - nice clouds. I especially like the one with the plane.
Nomad - lunch looked yummy!
FPH - Brrrr! Looks colder than my sledding outing
photolady - maybe the rose needs more (color) contrast?
daacon - love those blue skies
Rense - 'Spring is coming' - I can't wait!
xjjohnno - sunburned rose?

I took my kids sledding last Sunday and braved the cold with my *istDs to take pictures of the many sledders. I didn't get too many keepers, but I liked this shot. These two look like they are having fun. (Taken just before they crashed!)

There are certainly a lot of great shots submitted so far. Everyone is really working hard to push this thread to over 100 images.

xjjohnno - that cat looks a lot like mine, but #3 is my favorite
Rense - great series, that's beautiful town village you live it.
daacon - Dave, those are some of the bluest skies I've ever seen, very nice.
photolady - Love the shot of the Titmouse - the birds are hard to capture where I live - nice work
PFH - Beautiful series, but it sure looks cold where you live, #2 is my favorite
Nomad - Food and a cafe - well captured. We really need more pics of food.
jezza323 - #1 is well framed, great composition. Looks like a storm may be coming in.
SWEngineer - Looks like they are having fun, even crashing is fun in the snow.

All those pictures of snow were very nice. It never snows where I live, instead we get a lot of rain in the winter. The weather was dry today, so I went for a short ride on my motorcycle.

Photlady - thaks for the comments - the great white north can have some deep blue skies in the winter (need more of them!). The new lens looks sharp indeed. Nice job on the last one.

PFH - Wonderful shots of winter. Love the colors in the first three. Well done.

Noamd - I remember New England well spent some vacations there as a kid, Are those deep fried clams ??? Ahhhhhhhhhh I so miss clams... We had many a clam bake in good old Prince Edward Island in the summers .... Nice sunset shots of the lake.

Jezza323 - I hear ya nice shot of the plane in the clouds and good isolation on the leaf.

SWEngineer - Love that shot. Brings back many memories of when we took the kids to the hill for some tobogganing fun.

Frank - thanks for the comments . One day of blue skies and grey every since. Nice shot - so good to see you 'back on the horse' so to speak.

NanaClark2 - I like the framing - a little small though a bigger version would nice.

Timo4352 - interesting effect not my cup of tea none the less it is interesting. I do like the way the letters are so clear.

Here are few from Satruday morning , sure wish I could of got closer with the elk and had a longer lens on for the bison.

Yes I know that these were taken before the POTW time frame but I just got to dump this memeory card 2 days ago. I also wanted to take this opportunity to bump the 2010 PF members Honours list nominations thread up in the "Everything Else" forum. Check it out ,be creative , approve a nomination , make a nomination , see if you've been nominated and have some fun.
