Picture of the Week 106: March 14-March 28
Posted By: xjjohnno, 03-20-2010, 04:41 PM

This is the 106th Picture of the Week!

Firstly I'd like to thank Ramsaybuckeye for hosting last week's POTW and inviting me to carry on the torch.

POTW is fun because everyone can post whatever pictures they took that week, and we get variety of great photos. We should start getting even more variety as the Northern Hemisphere residents thaw out and welcome spring. We Southern Hemisphere friends ease into Autumn. Let's shoot!

Feel free to post your photos from this coming week, as well as this last week!

Again same rules and really other than time frames, there are no rules:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung DSLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR

4) Date: Sunday 14 March 2010 to Sunday 28 March 2010. Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via PM. If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between 12:00EST and 5PM EST on the Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact Peter Zack, Moderator via PM.

Previous hosts: Each one is a hotlink to that POTW thread to look past at the previous 103 weeks. 1 Peter Zack, 2Eaglerapids 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan,10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 mtnbearhug, 14 SCGushue, 15 daacon, 16 maxwell1295, 17 dantuyhoa, 18 daacon, 19 maxwell1295 19(2) daacon, 20 Bramela, 21 Syb, 22 maxwell1295, 23 maxwell1295, 24 dantuyhoa, 25 Gawan, 26 Peter Zack, 27 borno, 28 daacon, 29 gawan, 30 Damn Brit, 31 maxwell1295 32 maxwell1295 , 33 dantuyhoa, 34 daacon, 35 Peter Zack, 36 Damn Brit, 37 Borno, 38 Kevint, 39 Peter Zack, 40 Timbo13, 41 daacon, 42 daacon, 43 gawan, 44 dantuyhoa, 45 daacon, 46 Rense, 47 daacon, 48 Rense, 49 borno, 50 Rense, 51 daacon, 52 Peter Zack, 53 Peter Zack, 54 dadipentax, 55 David Whiteley, 56 planedriver, 57 daacon,58 Bramela, 59 daacon, 60 gawan, 61 virgilr, 62 daacon, 63 RickL, 64 Peter Zack, 65 Peter Zack, 66 Causey 67 daacon, 68 Bramela, 69 georgeweb, 70 daacon, 71 seacapt, 72 daacon, 73 AOski, 74 Rense 75 eccs19, 76 daacon, 77 xs400, 78 daacon, 79 Bramela, 80 borno, 81 legacyb4, 82 daacon, 83 gawan, 84 Rense, 85 Peter Zack, 86 davef, 87 davef, 88 xjjohnno 89 Bramela , 90 Peter Zack, 91 daacon, 92 stevebrot ,93 reeftool, 94 jezza323, 95 oldschool, 96 Iris, 97 Rense, 98 planedriver, 99 xs400, 100 Peter Zack, 101 Netuser 102 Photolady, 103 Tamia,

Thanks for hosting, John, and great start!
Drove around a little Saturday morning, the weatherman had predicted rain, he was wrong.

Jezza....That phot is magnificent! i wish there wasn't so much noise pollution here...love to capture a beautiful night sky like that.

here's a few from this yesterday...the first day of spring and a great one at that!

this is my girlfriend Natalie taken with my samsung gx-1s and Super-Takumar 200mm f/4

Sun was setting...so i thought i'd try to implement HDR. Got the sky right...but not my gf. I'm sure if i play around with the images, i could fix this...but i'm just going with what i've got so far:

I'm really not a big proponent of HDR, but it's not really fair of me to judge since i'd only ever tried it once before. I think HDR can be done tastefully...but too many people just go to extremes. I may be guilty of that a bit...but here's one that's pretty tame although the images were handheld and so there's some ghosting:

annnnnd one more HDR just to finish it all off, taken with my sammy and super-tammy...24mm that is!

Tamia - Good series. I really like #1, 2, and 4. I see you still have snow on the ground - and on the squirrel. I hope you get some spring weather soon.

ramseybuckeye - Looks like you found some quiet countryside for your drive. Looks like the drive could be a little slow sometimes - like in #2.

Nice work. That's a great capture. You sure have clear skies where you were camping,

irishwhite - Beautiful portrait in #1, well done.

"Save for Web" I never use that setting because it causes problems. I just use Save as and save them as jpgs.

Thanks for compliment on my flowers. I know people get tired of seeing flowers but there are many different flowers around the world and since they are blooming here, you'll get to see more of mine.
I realised, it seem to cause problems indeed.. changed my macros to save as jpg-copy instead. Thou it still seems like my pictures gets a bit dull in colours when uploaded to the web

And about the flowers! You can never get enuff so please continue!

Dusty again:

My dad with his *cough* Nikon:

My wife happened to be right there when this stray was hit by a car outside our house. Now he's inside our house recuperating from a fracture to his leg. No-one has responded to the flyers and the animal shelter is over-booked, so I have a funny feeling we are now dog owners.

No begins the name debate. I think he's a "Slawek" but my daughter prefers "Biscuit".

ready to play

The FA43 is such a great pet lens.

Spring has come to my neck of the woods! It was close to 70 degrees this weekend. I had a lot of work to get done around the house and on my vehicles but got out for a couple of hours to hike up to one of my favorite local spots. Nothing green yet but very little snow left and even the mud is drying. Quite rare for March. A few shots.

I am with your daughter. He looks like a Biscuit. Great looking dog...with any luck he will be a great pet as well.
