Project 52-2-40 Subject: Flowers
Posted By: mithrandir, 04-07-2010, 06:10 PM

For week 40 we will again be concentrating on shooting a specific subject.
This week it will be Flowers. Loverly Loverly Flowers.
(Pictures for the week 40 competition are to be taken and posted between 20100411 and 20100418).

NOTE: We have two Seasonal competitions planned for the last two weeks of year two. You may take pictures for these anytime between 20090705 and the posting dates of 20100704 or 20100711. This way you can include your favorite holiday or season whenever it occurs during the year.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-2 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax cameras are allowed. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20090705 to listed closing date is acceptable for the
two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-2-51 & 52.

I'll start if it's okay! The flower is an orchid that I bought recently from IKEA. Shot with Pentax K-x, kit lens and raynox dcr-250.

I'll pitch in too, one from late last year:

Radial red

Inspired by the brilliance of this flower and shot with diffused off-camera flash on a matching red table cloth background.

Yeh, what's up with people posting pics that are more than a week old? One of the things I like about the Project 52 challenge is that you have such a short time to get the picture.

now I have always wondered about this here.

Is it that we cannot post old photos, or we cannot post old photos and have them judged?

Just curious, I am busting out the extension tube for the first time tonight, so mine will be onside either way.

Here is mine I love the red breaking through the darkness. This was taken with a Sigma 50mm macro lens at 1/125 and f27.

Here's mine. I haven't taken many photos this past two weeks, but I found this one in our yard today. I thought might fit this category.

We have always allowed old shots to be posted to inspire us, but they should be posted with the line NOT TO BE JUDGED.

rose coloured rose

This dried rose needed some help, so I used a red gell in my white box with two spots and my 70mm. Shot wide open, so not overly happy with DOF, but reasonable happy with my first attempt at a flower. Lots of first for me in this shoot learned lots! Didn't notice in camera that my attempt focus point missed by a 1/4", but live and learn!

I de-sat the colour, hope it is not too pp'd for this thread.

I like the look of the inside of the Tulip and the contrasting colors.

What did you use for a lighting source?
