There were certainly many great shots submitted for this challenge. Several of them were truly outstanding. I really liked the entries from both Ash and Graham V, unfortunately both were not taken during the required time frame and will not be included with the winners. Ash commented his shot was taken last year and the EXIF for Graham V's indicates the shot was taken 3/12/2007. For this challenge, entries to be judged were to be have been taken and posted from April 11 to April 18.
In judging the entries, I looked for sharpness, color, lighting, and framing. After choosing my favorites, it looks I have a preference for the close focus or macro shots of flowers. I like the detail that can be seen in close ups.
Honorable Mentions in no particular order.
rparmar - Nice detail and well framed by the blue sky.
Ovim - nice colors and DOF, I wish the pic was a little larger.
drifter - I like how this shot shows that some plants really make a profusion of small flowers.
