Project 52-2-43 Subject: Path
Posted By: mithrandir, 04-29-2010, 09:50 AM

For week 43 we again concentrate on subjects. Our subject for this week's project is "Path." It can be a literal path, or for the more creative, a less concrete view of what path means to you.

(Pictures for the week 43 competition are to be taken and posted between 20100502 and 20100509).

NOTE: We have two Seasonal competitions planned for the last two weeks of year two. You may take pictures for these anytime between 20090705 and the posting dates of 20100704 or 20100711. This way you can include your favorite holiday or season whenever it occurs during the year.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-2 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by nonPentax cameras are allowed. Cameras can be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot and Medium Format.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from 20090705 to listed closing date is acceptable for the two “Seasonal” competitions – Projects 52-2-51 & 52.

Hi all. I've decided I'm buying too much gear and not taking enough shots. So I've decided to get involved in this Project 52. I'm not promising brilliant shots but I'll give it a go. A shame there are only 10 weeks to go but it will be good to see whether I can get a shot in each week for 10 weeks before trying to commit to a full 52. No great inspiration for this week's concept yet but I'll get something before the week is up.

Welcome to Project 52, GingerBeer. We look forward to your postings. By-the-way, Project 52-2 will morph into project 52-3 so you will get plenty of chances to be challenged.

I'm in for this challenge. I got this shot on Monday using my wife's Panasonic P&S while I was out on my motorcycle. On Monday, I decided I'd rather go for a ride than go to work. It was the right decision.

So far Frank (xs400) has a clear lead

Come on everybody, there are paths everywhere. Here's the only one I could find from my flickr. Just for inspiration (you know you can do better than this).

This hasn't gotten off to a great start. I have had very little time to spend photographing and have been disappointed with what I've shot so far. Unfortunately it has been a very busy week - whenever I haven't been at work I've had something on. I had hoped to capture something interesting on my walk to work one morning but haven't had much success yet. Today I decided I hadn't been using my DA 14mm enough so though I'd see how it went with an ultra wide angle lens. I took some shots on a pedestrian overpass that I cross each day on the way to work but the shots weren't nearly as interesting as I had hoped and the lighting wasn't too great either. I'd still probably have to use one of them at this stage but wouldn't be happy about it. Hopefully I'll have some success over the weekend when I can actually get out and spend some QT with the camera.

Finally I'm posting again and intending to join more often.
This photo has been made today at the Waterloopbos (NL), a place once used for marine testing (scaled harbours, damms ect.), but now retroceded to nature and open for public (and therefor paved).

Evening stroll

I had imagined myself getting to one of my favourite wooded pathways this week, but rather I am offering a decidedly urban perspective, taken last night at a park downtown.
