Love your pictures, particularly the first. Can you please explain you home studio setup? I would like to take similar type pictures (pure black background, nicely lit) for my own kids. What did you use for lighting and what did you use for a backdrop to get it so black?
Thanks
Trevor

Thanks Trevorgrout:
I have bought a cheap studio set Studio Photography Photo Background Support Stand 2.3m: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics and used instead original umbrellas 84CM Black & Silver Studio Flash Lighting Umbrellas: Amazon.co.uk: Camera & Photo. On the left side I have had Nikon SB700 flash (manual settings and not concetric - you have to figure it out for the best performance) installed to one umbrella and on the right side, between subject and background drop, a normal lamp from the studio set installed to the second umbrella (I do not remember if it was the original one or the reflecting one). I have added to the second one a paper plate so the light was not coming directly to the lens. Both umbrellas were positioned in a way that no light was falling onto the background drop. The K-5 and SB700 connected together by a wireless trigger. I hope this helps - the whole studio set me back less than £150 but the results are are great taking into account the time you have to spend with little children unitl they get ready for shooting BTW if you do not have a flash, think about Metz Metz 58 AF-2 Digital Flashgun for Pentax: Amazon.co.uk: Camera & Photo as this is what I would buy next time cheers

On the water at Lake Tahoe

I find this focal length very good for elements set in the landscape

Portrait of Amelia

K3ii, DA 40 Limited 'Pancake', handheld ISO 3200, F=3.5, 1/40th. Mild processing in PS CS6.

The lens, like the subject, is magnificent.

Cheers,
Cameron

k3ii, 40mm limited pancake. With two 500 watts/second studio flash, umbrella to the left of the subject, soft box to the right. Metering ignored, I used my eyeballs.

Rapidly becoming my favourite lens of all time.

Cheers,
Cameron

Rondec, stunning photos!

I am quite fond of my DA 40mm. For landscape job, I actually prefer it to my DA HD 15mm. The 40mm is simply much sharper edge-to-edge.

A couple of HDR photos from yesterday:
