I haven't used my M85 a lot on film but digital is more demanding so if it works well on digital I think it must also work well on film.

7th picture!

a little samples of my ex M85 I really loved this lens but the samyang 85 1.4 is better in most conditions and because I needed wide fast prime... so I've sold the M85. I hope that FA35 and Samyang 85 will make me forget the M85 .
Hi simbon4o, I know I had asked this before about using the reflector. coming back and looking at the picture again made me ask the same question again particularly with the 7th picture where the lady is in the long shot sitting under the tree and the sun's rays falling from behind.
My question: because the background is lit, I would have imagined there is something to light the model from the front and also since it is a longer shot - my question is, did you use a reflector here or a flash to light the model from the front?

thanks
S

These may not be overly exciting, but they're a good look at what the M85 can do in a macro situation. I used a 12mm extension tube, and I believe the f-stop was somewhere between f/5.6 and f/8.

I find this an amazing lens, given its smallness in size for a f/2 lens which makes It portable when travelling. Hence I bring it with me on a number of overseas trips . The colours it can produce never fails to amaze me. Its another one of those over looked lens, since most people prefers auto focus nowadays. If you enjoy the photography process of manual focusing this is the lens for you.

Tremendous first picture. Stunningly good.

A testament to you as a photographer and to the lens in question.

Many thanks, the shot was taken with a K200D which isn't a bad camera at all!
And Mark "Booga" Fowell is just a great guitar player ...

Let's get the August post count up! Here's one from 1991 on Kodachrome 64, probably using the MX and of course the lovely M85 f/2. Scanned this year and given a bit of a tweak in RawTherapee, I'm not sure if the cool colour is because it was a winter's day or the emulsion has faded over the years. Probably a bit of both:
