Maybe....

It sucks for parades and it is just good for beauty pageant winners?

The colors seem wacky to me. Everything is over-saturated to the point of total clipping and posterizing. I have this lens, it is absolutely great but it can do much better than this!

Sorry about that, maybe check your camera settings, you used manual WB and sharpness as well as contrast are set to nax.

Well you haven't seen the saturation on this one then!! f22, 1/25, ISO 100

[little drawe: it is just good for beauty pageant winners? ]

Second pic is still a parade but not a pageant winner, just a kid. f10, 1/250

DA* 50-135/2.8 with AFA 1.7x converter

This shot was taken about 5:00 pm early September, giving that glorious warm colour to the female Mallard's feathers. It also demonstrates why I am keeping this lens even though the SDM has failed for the third and last time. The optics are unsurpassed. Adding the AFA 1.7x rear converter does not seem to downgrade the image in the slightest. The second image is a 100% crop of the head. The focus is actually on her shoulder. Check out the feather details.

K10D, ISO 200, 1/350 @ f/6.7, SR set to 150mm, Focal length 135x1.7 = 229.5mm.

Bellow shots were taken with K-r. First one in the forest i believe at 3200 iso and 1/30 exposure.

50% crop:

and finally 100% crop (and auto-levels) of one of the planes from other picture @135mm (i believe altitude ~12km):
