This was the first lens Ive rented, specifically for a auto race that would have plenty of darkness, and had no regrets. The lens was incredibly shard down range, it was very surprising to shoot an object 600+ feet away and have it come out sharp without a tripod. It held up in the severe downpour we got, no issues shooting in the rain. I would like to buy this lens in the future.

Don't see too many posting shots using this lens very often anymore. Truth is that I rarely use it these days either mostly because it doesn't adapt well to 35mm, but on crop-sensors it really is one of the best optics they've produced.

I've a Flickr album with a fair number of shots using it:

I have a 24-70 f2.8 & 70-200 f2.8 and often wonder if I'd use this lens...

It's effectively the working lengths of a 70-200 for APS-C. If you enjoy the 70-200 on 35mm or full-frame, you'd enjoy the 50-135 on crop.

Honestly I wish it *did* translate to the larger sensor (has pretty awful circular vignetting depending on the length chosen) because it'd be just right for me personally.

(I have a Vivitar Series-1 70-210/2.8 that I use occasionally but most for the 210 capabilities. If it were jussssst a little shorter I'd use it more.)

Had my first outing today to test my new lens. I think I glimpsed a little bit of the "magic" and am looking forward to shooting with it.

Here are two I took today after receiving my new (to me at least,) DA*50-135. Apple blossom is at f/2.8, Squirrel is probably f/9. I love the IQ of this lens already!

This is why the lighthouse is here

South Coast of Owl's head. Just beyond the second image there is a cove with beach that requires a bit of climbing to reach. The Northern beach is also rocky but much easier to reach on foot.
