It was you who got me looking at it for macros. If it works for those, why not Other photo types. The neat thing about it is you don't have to Just do Front to Back but can also do side to side. Photoshop does a nice job of combining all types, I've found.

I have one I picked up in a camera shop in nearly new condition for $60. I bought it thinking I might play around with it a bit & sell it. After shooting a few photos with it, I decided it's a keeper. It's an awesome lens.

GibbyTheMole, Wow... $60... definitely a keeper. I actually paid $150 for a near mint condition one, no regret, fair value, and the going rate for a "Good" condition copy I've seen locally is around $120. So you got a fantastic deal. While I shoot primarily primes, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lens to anyone wishing a versatile and good performing, near prime quality zoom. It's fairly heavy, which helps keeping a good stability.

I have one of these lenses...bought it new in '84 for $ 329 CAD. Wonderful lens...was my main lens from '84 to 2007. Still use it occasionally on my K series digital cameras. Great colur rendition, clarity...just a great all rounder.

Took this lens for an outing yesterday. The performance of the lens was satisfactory. It can indeed be quite sharp and contrasty, once you nail focus. Also practically zero CA.

Sigma or Pentax

Hi Guys...

I am new for the forum as well as photography, but i've been reading your posts for long time...

I bought a Pentax k-x and I was looking for a good lens for that. I did a survey and at the end I had to choose between Pentax A 35-105 f/3.5 and Sigma 50-200mm f/4-5.6 OS. After reading many positive comments on Pentax lens, I purchased Pentax lens.
Now I feel the pictures are not good as those produces by sigma lens. My friend owns a Sigma 50-200mm OS attached to Nikon D5100. We took pictures of the same object in same time and those photos easily beat mines. I am wondering which one is the problem, Lens? Camera? or Me? Me and my friend are leveled in knowledge on photography, that is we are very biginners.

I am looking for some helpful comments from you.

Threads in this section of the forum are for image samples only, not lens discussion generally...
