Spectacular consumer lens. Highly underrated. Tack sharp wide open.
Love its compactness - gets the call often with me as my 70-200 is usually too large and hefty for casual shooting...

I have the DA-L version and it's honestly my favourite lens, and the one that gets the most use out of me.

This is a great lens - highly under-rated. It even better with the K-5 since we can pump up the ISO and still get great pictures.

The 55-300mm is a very bang-for-buck lens for those looking to get something in the longer focal lengths:

A real sleeper of a lens

My 55-300 is one of my most used and trusted lenses. The results speak for themselves ... it just doesn't perform like a consumer lens.

Widow Skimmer (Libellula luctuosa)

Small Wood Nymph (Cercyonis oetus)

I've had my 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED for a bit more than a year now and it's the lens I always have on my K200D at home and when I set off on the trail. I figure I can always swap to one of my other lenses to shoot landscapes or flowers, but that when I need the 300mm end I need it NOW. It's a great lens, with lovely bokeh and high IQ, and very versatile, as this range of shots shows...
