I have used this versatile lens also for colesup work... it does work fabulous if it decides to work! I every now and then have the feeling that the focus and sharpness (f/2.8-4) is not very persistent! Gets me annoyed sometimes! But then again, I am more then happy with results like this!

Is anyone willing to add some non Post Processed photos with this lens at 16mm f/2.8 at infinity? Attempting to gauge sharpness of this lens at this setup

First Snow

This lens seems underrepresented. Love the weather sealing! Minor post-processing for sharpness. Here are a few.

Actually I'm still looking for some of these.. more specifically, on a tripod with a timer, both 16mm and 50mm at f/2.8 from about 100 ft / 30m away (no less) targeting perpendicularly a brick wall or flat sign (stop sign, parking sign, company sign, etc).. and absolutely unprocessed (NO sharpening, no microtonal contrast/clarity).

This would help me out a ton!

This is a 16mm f2.8 shot with in camera jpeg, but no other adjustments done. Unfortunately, it is anything but perpendicular to the camera, but maybe it would be helpful (full size on Flickr)

Thank you, Rondec! I saw your post this morning but didn't have time to properly thank you. If you or anyone else has any more, then please feel free to post!

As you stated, it isn't exactly straight on to the camera, witht he bottom forward and the right side forward. But I can see just left of center is the sharpest and it seems pretty acceptable to me.

I borrowed a 16-50mm the other week and took these images, they're all for my 4x4 & outdoor website.

My first shots with a recently acquired DA* 16-50mm - I used a polarizer..

This one's quite pleasing but the wooden pole in the distance does show CA on closer inspection (f8, 1/80 second, 22mm) I'm quite happy with Photoshop Elements right now - will I have to shift to Lightroom to deal with this?

I'm not sure what went wrong with this one - taken at 50mm, f9, 1/125. It's not very sharp (used spot focus on the rigging). The second shot was taken with my DA 55-300mm at 78mm, just for the sake of comparison.

Shows promise, but a bit of a learning curve ahead, I think.
