Finally had a combination of nice weather and free time to take the DA 10-17 out for a spin. What a fun but challenging lens to use.

I realize there are millions of pics of tiger lilies, but my experiment here with the DA 10-17 FE was to shoot at 10mm. I shot all these at f11. With about 5" of focal length (to the sensor; so the front of the lens was only a couple inches from the flower), you get a depth of field of almost 3 inches. That's enough to get the petals and stamens in focus, something that's hard to do with a longer lens. With these pics, a rain storm had passed, and the evening sun was just giving a bit of light. They are all at ISO 640-1000 at 1/30 handheld with my K-30. Just more examples of the versatility of this wonderful little lens!
