Damn! I'm gettin' one of these beasties these shotz absolutely kill. Is there any difference between a 'K' and 'A' optically?
Looking through the reviews of these lenses, they do differ optically and the A is the superior of the two. I've seen so many amazing shots from the K though.

I've been drooling all night over this lens and I've got a A 50/1.4 and a Sigma 50/1.4. Perhaps I just need to get out more?

No, I want one too. There is just something about that razor thin DOF.

just picked up this lens a week ago and only had one outing with it so far... I'm thinking I need to put this thing on my k10d that has the focusing screen! It's tough without it!

And no, this spoon was not mine... just saw it walking around. But LBA is an addiction too...

I'll ad a few shots as well. One of my (if not the) favourite lenses. It's one of those lenses that keep a aura of LBA at a 50m radius around them.

So, the other night I was just wander about the house with the 1.2 having some damn-near-absolute-darkness fun.... I snapped about 10 of these (@ ISO3200, f/1.2, 1/15sec) completely (and I do mean completely) unable to see a darn thing. The bokeh light from the closed blinds in the background are hugely exaggerated. I knew where our little cat Georgie was, roughly, sitting atop a chest of drawers and luckily she, having better night vision, stared at me most of the time ... after every couple shots I checked focus, in a dark room, to see what image I had captured..... and then, much to my terror and shock....

They are optically identical. The K 50mm f/1.2 is one of the best lenses pentax has ever made, they certainly didn't pull any punches in designing it. The only optical difference that exists between the K and A version is in the coatings - and that doesn't change much, also there were some minor operational enhancements - the A setting to allow for autoexposure.
