wow these are impressive images! Anyone use a K-01 with their DA*55? I only have the DA limited primes and the DA 18-135 zoom so I have a gap between 40mm and 70mm in my prime lens lineup and my fastest lens if f/2.4 (DA 70). So I am seriously considering getting a DA*55 f/1.4 to fill those two gaps but does the lens auto-focus well using the K-01 contrast-detect?

I use the DA *55 with my K-01 and it does a good job. The biggest negative is that it is kind of slow focusing.

So it's already known as a bit more slow-focusing lens than others, and on the K-01, it's even slower? Hmm. Might have to pass on this lens, although in capable hands like yours, it can definitely produce excellent images. Thanks for your feedback.

I'll try to remember to do this tonight, but I have a k-3 and a k-01 and can try to see how the AF between the two performs with this lens in a indoor environment.

Best I can do without breaking out tripods etc (my room is a mess, a an impromptu video like this is better for me).

I wouldn't say the k-01 with the DA*55 is unbearable. Maybe if you go from shooting a landscape to shooting a nearby flower closeup at dusk... but even then it's reasonable in my opinion. The k-01 is pretty good at focusing now with the latest patches.

And the DA* 55mm has QS, so you can just grab the focus ring and quickly shift from near to far or far to near, and only engage the AF at the end. With QS lenses, I prefer to have AF set to the AE-L button, so the shutter button doesn't trigger AF. This way I have MF and AF on hand, always, without any AF/MF switches

This is photography. This is a photographer who deserves to be called so.
Compliments!

The lens is fantastic and you deserve it
