Nice shots jsherman999! This lens just doesn't cease to amaze me with its rendering and IQ, Between the 35 and my M 50 f1.4, I have a hard time deciding what to keep on my camera, but I think the 35 is ahead at this stage

Yes, it's one of those little unassuming lenses that can kinda blow you away when you look at the results.

That's a lens that's been on my mind lately! A question: as a practical matter would you have both the K28/3.5 and K35/3.5 in your bag at the same time? Right now, my "gaps" are between the 28 and K55/1.8 and between the 55 and the K135/2.5. While I would love to rationalize the purchase of a K85/1.8, some of the shots I've set up on lately really seem to fit that 35mm FL.

A question: as a practical matter would you have both the K28/3.5 and K35/3.5 in your bag at the same time?

By "in your bag" do you mean owning both, or carrying both in a field kit? I own both and they are two of my favorites, but I don't think I've ever put both into the same field kit. The 28 is better for macro (reversed) and of course is an excellent normal on a Pentax APS-C sensor, a great all-rounder. The 35 is smaller and lighter, has exceptional contrast, and produces slightly higher magnification at MFD. There's not a lot of choice for filling the gap between 55 and 28. If you aren't concerned about "full frame" there are the DA 40s (although apparently they do reasonably well on FF), and of course there's the 43 Ltd. Also the "original pancake" M40, but that lens doesn't get a lot of love.

Ha, at this stage they're both one-and-the-same. Thanks for the insights--it sounds as if the K35/3.5 is within a reasonable crop (or the proverbial "zoom-with-your-feet" range) of the K28/3.5...certainly a worthy lens, though, as both your and Greg's samples attest.

I have brought them both: three times on longer trips to (all involving Rockies). I've rarely taken them both on shorter outings. Admittedly, neither gets as much use these days as I would like, as I have a couple of very good zooms that cover their ranges and the zooms are so much more convenient. One thing about both these lenses: unlike, say, the DA Limiteds, which share a very similar tonal signature, these lenses are a bit more unique, and I would take both not merely for the different FOVs (admittedly, they're not far apart), but for the somewhat different look I can get from each lens. Also, I tend shoot mostly in the 15mm to 35mm range in any case. I would never carry, say, a 15mm, a 28mm, and a 43mm, because I'd hardly ever use that 43mm. So it may depend on your shooting style. If you shoot enough at longer (short tele) focal lengths to justify carrying a 43mm or a 70mm, 28mm and 35mm are probably too close to justify carrying both.

Thanks for the feedback--the color palette of the 35 really fits your neck of the woods, with those yellow aspens and big skies...I'd be curious what it did with the darker, moodier "hollers" I find myself in most of the time.
