I have this lens too and it seems like all my issues with it are present in the op's post. Mainly lateral CA. I ran some images about 4 years ago when I bought this lens(mostly for the A setting. Only to be displeased by the amount of lateral CA

I am not too sure I understand what to look for with the CA's you point out. Granted, I use it at shows and prefer to shoot cars in B&W but here are some color photos using the same lens.

Look at the details around the shifter. Even in the low resolution for posting you have violet shadowing on one side of the chrome and green on the other, lateral CA gives this color shift geometrically the further you move away from the center of the frame because the image magnification for the three colours is different. It can be fixed in post processing but it takes time, and if not corrected leads to off axis softness

I never thought much of this lens, until I got it a lens hood. Now it shines.

Here it is, handling reds, in it's "macro" mode. This was shot about as close as I could get it, in full sun.



Not bad, for the $25 I paid at a photo show.
