Hi,

I see some great photos and comments and I fear that my copy is not up to this level

f2.8 is very soft:

100% crop:

f3.2 is quite better:

100% crop:

f4 is even better:

100% crop:

I cannot return lens to shop, but it is still under warranty,
is there any hope in sending to a service?

Based on what I'm seeing these photos look normal, as F2.8 is a little bit soft. If you want more feedback on this, I'd recommend starting a new thread in the lens forum.

I have a love hate relationship with this lens. You might want to get it checked, but note, on my *istD, this lens would snap into focus and then as the second adjustment came it would move slightly off focus., on my K10D it was tack sharp, on my K7D it never produces sharp results, and it is not focus, it seems to be vibration, but with a flash the sharpness is there. On my K5D it is again Tack sharp. It seems to be a rather picky lens about the cameras it is paired with

Just bought this lens after selling my Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 -- while I miss the wide end sometimes, I really love being able to zoom to 75mm and the macro-like close focus capabilities of the Tamron. It also is wicked sharp. Outstanding image quality, especially for the price I paid!

I'm glad to see this thread revitalized recently. This is an outstanding zoom lens for the price!
