Yes, people prefer this to the 2.8 28mm. How is purple fringing in stronger light?

I have the SMC A 28/f2.8 and yes I prefer the K 28/f3.5 for its sharpness. Purple fringing quite obvious in a very strong light, same amount as the SMC A version produce. I'll post the the sample pictures here soon as I travel back home, or perhaps I'll ask its previous owner to post the samples here

I've run into some red fringing but never purple fringing. Indeed, of all my wide angle prime lenses (I have the M 20/4, the M 28/2.8 and K 35/3.5), this one is most resistant to fringing of any kind.

What impresses me about the lens is not so much the sharpness (although it is plenty sharp), but the contrast and rich colors it produces:

Had a ball with this lens in Italy on my honeymoon this year. It went head to head with a K24 f/2.8 and demolished it.

I used this lens for the 2012 Single in April. Pulled out some shots I was rather happy with.

Sharpness is Grade A:

And here:

The K 28/3.5 is a very hard lens to fault.
I have one that I almost never use and I just can't bring myself to sell it.
Excellent colors and sharpness.

Is also has the 3D factor with the right combination. A highly recommended lens imo.

I only just bought it. Got it cheap ($45) about mid March. It was a bit filthy inside as a previous owner had botched the cleaning so I took it upon myself to fix it. Full outline if you, or anyone else needs to give their lens a bit of a spruce up is located HERE.

I have yet to get it to give me 3D factor yet but I probably haven't given it the chance. I generally shoot it at F8. At this aperture it's so damn sharp you can't take it on an aircraft!

I really like the colors this lens produces. It reminds of Kodachrome back in the day. I picked this near mint copy up for the purpose of stitching panoramas together because at f8 the sharpness from edge to edge is just fantastic. The first photo shows off the sharpness and color. The second photo shows off a 7 photo panorama. For pano shots I shoot portrait and overlap 40-50%. Photoshop Elements does the rest and so far the PS's automated process has not needed any help.

A 371 X 198 pixel crop of the house and two pedestrians just above the bushes sticking out over the water. The house was about 500 yards from my tripod.
