Hah, so my copy has seen much abuse and now has a semi-loose barrel and has gone soft. Or it was soft all along in portrait. Who knows. :/

For what I paid for it, I can't really complain and its still pretty damned usable for people shots. I ordered another from KEH, but it was showing decentering at 200mm, but was an otherwise ok copy. I sent it back of course. I'm guessing the build quality on these is not all that great. It doesn't seem to be really. Very much in the league of kit lenses. Right now I'm strongly considering a 55-300 next when I can get a few dollars together. I keep thinking about getting an old M80-200 or vivitar series 1 in the meantime so I can get back to doing more landscapes with telephotos.

Pleasantly surprised by this lens. My first zoom lens and for the cheap price can't be beat.
