After noise reduction and contrast adjust, this actually turned out to be a better astro shot:

I don't think the focus is completely dialed in, but it still looks pretty good. I like this one better, as the longer exposure had a bunch of stars shifted to red, and it had longish star trails. This shot has very minimal trails at 3sec, ISO3200, f1.7:

I had competition from an aspiring young photographer at the games;

How can I not be happy with the results of this lens.
