I have found it to be better than okay on APS-C. A year ago, when I was contemplating purchasing a K-1, I tracked down every full resolution images from the K-1 + FA 20-35 I could find online and just wasn't all that impressed with performance outside the APC-C image circle.

I also own the M 20/4. There about equal in sharpness (at least on APS-C). The FA 20-35 has better contrast and saturation, the old M 20 has better rendering.
