Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II Aspherical

Looks like this:

Comparative Review covers it all pretty much, nicely sharp good flare control and great price.

Example shot @ F3.2 desaturated deliberately, quite heavy crop ~40%

This is one lens I'm torn about. When it focuses accurately, it's nice and sharp, but it sometimes likes to not focus accurately I personally find.

i am surprised that there are so few people posting pic in this thread while there are tons on lens review section.

this lens is extremely sharp when stop down, but a bit soft when wild open (for my copy).
anyways, here are some photos.

Afew More from the 17-50

I took these last week in Maine and New Hampshire Out of 1200 photos last week 567 were from the 17-50. I use the 17-50 and 28-75 often.

i am loving this lens more and more.
even though it is not that sharp wild open, by stopping down to 3.2 it already produce great result.
so f3.2 is kind of my new "wild open". however i can still use 2.8 when i really need it.

I got one intending to replace a DA16-45. Prefer the smaller size, f/2.8 and the lesser interference with the pop-up flash. Not totally sure about the IQ, it is sharp and contrasty (especially stopped down a bit) but the DA might be bringing just a little more magic. More to follow as Spring finally comes, allowing more color into my shots.

Brown, everywhere

First Flowers

Surprising Color

All on a *ist D, processed using "Reversal Film" from the Pentax Utility. Love the colors from the old 6MP CCD sensor.

I have bought this lens about year ago and I'm happy to have it! It is quite sharp as wide-open in the center and easy to carry on. My favourite lens at the moment (I'm thinking to get something from Pentax's own category ).

Pentax K-r, 50mm, f/6,3, iso 200, 1/125

Pentax K-r, 17mm, f/2.8, iso 200, 1/3200 (missed badly this one but it is still quite ok!)

Attaching a couple samples. No idea how much they get downsampled on the site.

Quite sharp for a zoom! 36 mm, wide open. Click on image for fullsized and sharper version.

Well, I am going to revive this thread as this is one of only two lens that I use with my K3 and it is phenomenal. If you 'see' on the wider end, like I do, this is the lens for you
